Forget The High Table, This Is What John Wick’s Next Mission Should Be In John Wick 5

John Wick 5 could be different (and possibly better) than every other movie in the franchise by making one major change. The first John Wick movie was released in 2014, and each film in the action-packed series has arguably been better than the last. 2023’s John Wick: Chapter 4 was the most critically and commercially successful film of the entire franchise. However, Keanu Reeves’ iconic character seemingly died at the end of John Wick: Chapter 4, which led many to believe that it would be the last movie in the series.

However, John Wick 5 has been officially confirmed, and Reeves and franchise director Chad Stehelski are both returning for the project. While a fifth John Wick movie is very exciting, it doesn’t necessarily need to be made. Therefore, I really hope that Reeves, Stahelski, and the rest of the creative team behind John Wick 5 have come up with an amazing idea for the movie. Personally, after watching him fight off ᴀssᴀssins to save his own life for four movies, I think it would be great to see John protecting someone else in John Wick 5.

John Wick 5 Should Be About John Protecting Someone

John Wick Has Been Busy Trying To Save His Own Life

In the first movie, John Wick seeks revenge after a group of men break into his home and kill his dog, which leads to him coming out of retirement. However, because of his actions in the first film, John Wick is on the run from servants of the High Table for the rest of the series. While he has several allies, such as Winston, Charon, and the Bowery King, many powerful members of the High Table want John ᴅᴇᴀᴅ for breaking the rules.

John Wick Movies

RT Critics Score

John Wick (2014)

John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017)

89%

John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019)

89%

John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)

94%

Therefore, in every movie in the series, John Wick fights off ᴀssᴀssins to protect himself. However, I think it would be very interesting if he fights to protect someone else in John Wick 5. Similar to Joel protecting Ellie in The Last of Us and Wolverine protecting X-23 in Logan, it would be amazing to see John Wick do whatever it takes to save someone’s life. While it is unclear who John Wick could protect in the film, it could possibly be an innocent child who somehow gets caught up in High Table business.

John Wick Guarding Someone’s Life Would Flip The Franchise’s Premise

John Wick Protecting Someone Would Show A Different Side Of His Character

If John had to protect someone in the fifth film, John Wick 5 would be completely different from any other movie in the franchise. Reeves and Stahelski have stressed that they wouldn’t make John Wick 5 if they didn’t come up with a great story, and this general premise sounds like a fantastic idea to me. Having him risk his own life to protect someone, potentially a child, would show a completely different side of John Wick and make the fifth film very unique.

In many ways, John Wick is similar to characters like Joel from The Last of Us and Wolverine, since he is a reclusive man who rarely lets people in. However, The Last of Us and Logan both explore how being responsible for someone else changes these characters’ lives. Therefore, it would be fascinating to see John take care of a child in John Wick 5. He never had any children of his own, and his wife unfortunately died quite young, but protecting an innocent child in John Wick 5 could give Reeves’ character a new outlook on life.
