Per The Numbers, A Minecraft Movie has continued to impress as it earned Black two notable all-time career records. A Minecraft Movie is now the no. 2 highest-grossing video game adaptation of all time, and the no.1 highest-grossing live-action video game adaptation of all time. The highest-grossing animated video game adaptation is 2023’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie, wherein Jack Black plays the voice of Bowser. This means that Black stars in both the highest-grossing live-action and animated video game adaptations to date.

A Minecraft Movie did see a sharper second-weekend drop (-50.5%) than The Super Mario Bros. Movie (-36.9%), but it started at a higher total because of its record-breaking debut. The 2025 adaptation also has Easter weekend coming up, which could increase ticket sales. Even if it doesn’t break the all-time record, A Minecraft Movie still boasts impressive records for Black.
