You Probably Don’t Remember Viola Davis In Ocean’s 11, But Her Character Should Return In Ocean’s 14

Ocean’s Eleven may well have begun as the most preeminent heist series in the world, and Viola Davis definitely deserves to be in the next movie. If watching the Ocean’s movies in order, it is very easy to forget Viola Davis’ part in the franchise, since it comes so near the beginning. However, looking ahead brings reams of opportunities, and Viola Davis could be involved. Although Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling’s Ocean’s prequel isn’t developing rapidly, Ocean’s 14 is bringing speculation fast, and it’s time to pin down some things everyone wants from it.

All the Ocean’s movies brought something new to the table, developing the heist genre from its rough beginnings to its slick, glossy, and accomplished modern-day prestige. With Ocean’s 13 leaving Danny Ocean in limbo, there’s never been a better time for a sequel to swoop in and give the whole franchise some closure in its time-honored tradition of original storytelling. There is one perfect way to highlight this closure and create a circular loop in the franchise, and the American actress and movie producer Viola Davis could be the key.

Viola Davis Played The Parole Board Interrogator In Ocean’s 11

Viola Davis Had A Minor Role In Ocean’s 11

Unbeknownst to many, Viola Davis starred in the very first scene of the Ocean’s Eleven reboot. Although she wasn’t in the first ever Ocean’s Eleven movie (directed by Lewis Milestone, 1960), she opened the franchise as many know it. Davis played the parole board interrogator for Danny Ocean, who was played by George Clooney. Clooney’s Ocean’s 14 tease highlighted the actors’ aging being a point of interest. This wouldn’t affect Davis, who never appeared on camera but spoke from behind it, interviewing Ocean as he was being held in jail.

Ocean’s 14 Bringing Viola Davis’ Character Back Would Be Genius

Ocean’s 14 Should Contemplate Giving Viola Davis A Bigger Role

Viola Davis is one of the Ocean’s cast members who must return for Ocean’s 14. From her minor role in Ocean’s Eleven, Viola Davis has blossomed into one of America’s finest actors. Or, at least, one of its most up-and-coming. Davis is a veritable action star, dominating the preposterous 2025 movie G20. This energy would be perfect for the Ocean’s franchise, which took a ludicrous turn in Ocean’s 13. This move to the silly, funny, and absurd suited the movie franchise perfectly, given it had always had such a strong sense of humor.

The upcoming Ocean’s 14 movie has lots to consider, bearing in mind it may be the final outing for the franchise. This would make sense — as Clooney commented, the cast has aged significantly, and the movie could explore aging conmen adjusting to life after retirement and suddenly being thrown into chaos again. This would make a great capper to the franchise. Bringing Viola Davis back as a law enforcement officer would make so much sense, given she also started Ocean’s Eleven, having always been a strong presence in the franchise.
