Black Phone 2 Seemingly Casts The Grabber’s Next Victim

Black Phone 2 seemingly casts The Grabber’s next victim. Directed by Scott Derrickson, who co-wrote the script with his frequent collaborator C. Robert Cargill, the 2021 horror film follows a teenager named Finney (Mason Thames) who is kidnapped by a serial child killer known colloquially as The Grabber (Ethan Hawke) and, while in captivity, communicates with his past victims using a black rotary phone. Following its critical and commercial success, a sequel was confirmed with The Black Phone 2 cast including Thames, Hawke, Madeleine McGraw, and Jeremy Davies reprising their roles alongside new additions Demián Bichir and Arianna Rivas.

Now, the sequel has added another new cast member. According to ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, Black Phone 2 has cast Anna Lore. Though there are no details on her character, Lore will seemingly be playing one of The Grabber’s next victims in the sequel.

What Anna Lore’s Casting Means For Black Phone 2

The Grabber’s Next Victim Has Been Cast

Anna Lore joins Black Phone 2 with much experience in Blumhouse horror movies, having starred in They/Them alongside Kevin Bacon and My Valentine, an installment in Hulu’s Into the Dark anthology series. Lore will appear next in Final Destination: Bloodlines, the latest installment in the long-running horror franchise, releasing in theaters on May 16. Her previous roles have come in The CW’s Gotham Knights, The CW/Netflix’s All American, HBO Max’s Doom Patrol, and the Peacock limited series Hysteria!.

The Black Phone ending sees Finney breaking The Grabber’s neck with a phone cord, seemingly killing him. However, footage from the sequel screened at CinemaCon 2025 revealed that The Grabber is still able to communicate with Finney through the phone. In turn, The Grabber will seemingly still be able to target kids after his death. Anna Lore is likely playing one of those victims, as is Arianna Rivas. However, the core conflict should still be between Finney and The Grabber.

Our Take On Anna Lore’s Casting In Black Phone 2

Is She A Good Casting Choice For The Sequel?

Given Anna Lore’s growing horror résumé, she seems like a fitting addition to The Black Phone 2 cast. Her performances in Blumhouse’s They/Them and Into The Dark: My Valentine showcase her ability to portray characters under duress, an essential trait for playing one of The Grabber’s victims. With Final Destination: Bloodlines also on the horizon, Lore’s presence in horror franchises will continue to grow.

Moreover, Lore’s range, as seen in everything from the horror to the superhero genre, could add some depth to what otherwise might have been a straightforward victim role. Perhaps her casting signals the sequel’s intention to elevate its supporting characters beyond mere plot devices. If Black Phone 2 explores its victims and the afterlife more deeply, as teased by The Grabber’s posthumous communication, Lore could play a crucial role in the sequel’s story.

Black Phone 2 is scheduled for release on October 17.
