Marvel fan artist shows what Fox’s X-Men mutants might look like when some of the original movie actors return in Avengers: Doomsday. Avengers: Doomsday‘s cast announcement revealed the return of several MCU and X-Men actors, whose Marvel characters will meet for the first time in Phase 6. A couple of Avengers: Doomsday‘s X-Men actors hadn’t reprised their roles in over a decade, while others played different variants since the mutant team last fought together on the big screen.
Artist and Marvel fan SPDRMNKYXXIII imagines what four of X-Men‘s returning mutants will look like in Avengers: Doomsday. James Marsden’s Cyclops, Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler, Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, and Ian McKellen’s Magneto ᴀssemble in an image inspired by Queen’s iconic “Bohemian Rhapsody” cover. All four X-Men characters sport incredibly comic-accurate looks. Charles Xavier wears a green suit, Cyclops wears his X-Men captain uniform, Nightcrawler wears his red-and-black costume, and Magneto wears a bright red-and-purple helmet and sports long white hair. What The X-Men Fan Art Means For Avengers: Doomsday
Avengers: Doomsday’s Returning X-Men Characters Will Be Different From Fox’s Original Mutants
Watching multiple actors from Fox’s original X-Men theory will certainly be a dream come true for many Marvel fans, but these actors are almost guaranteed to be playing new variants of their respective mutant characters. Patrick Stewart has already played a different variant of Professor X in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Kelsey Grammer’s new Beast variant made his debut in The Marvels‘ post-credits scene, which might tie into Avengers: Doomsday‘s plot. Likewise, James Marsden and Alan Cumming will likely play brand-new versions of Cyclops and Nightcrawler, respectively.
The X-Men’s return in Avengers: Doomsday offers the original actors a chance to sport more faithful costumes and accessories. While the X-Men’s black leather costumes may be remembered fondly by some, they’re a clear product of their era. In Avengers: Doomsday, the X-Men may wear their most comic-accurate costumes so far, with more vibrant colors and more precise comic book inspirations. Magneto’s bright red clothes and Cyclops’ blue-and-yellow uniform only made a brief appearance in Fox’s X-Men movies, but they could finally take center stage in Avengers: Doomsday.
Our Take On The Avengers: Doomsday X-Men Fan Art
The X-Men’s Return Is A Momentous Achievement For Marvel Studios
The original X-Men cast’s return in Avengers: Doomsday isn’t just an homage to the X-Men franchise’s twenty-six-year-old legacy. Such a crossover would have been technically and legally impossible if it weren’t for Disney’s timely acquisition of Twentieth Century Fox, which not only allows Marvel Studios to use the X-Men but also to bring back the original live-action actors in the same roles. Avengers: Doomsday‘s X-Men and Avengers team-up will be looked back on as one of the most important moments in superhero movie history.
