Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt return in first images for the upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel, reuniting the core pair. Prinze Jr. starred as Ray Bronson and Hewitt portrayed Julie James in the original 1997 horror movie, later reprising their roles in the 1998 sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Now, the pair are coming back for the upcoming I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel of the same name, alongside a younger generation who are now being targeted by a figure seeking revenge.

What These New Images Mean For I Know What You Did Last Summer
The Sequel Is Pulling Heavily From The Original
The premise of the upcoming horror sequel sees five teenagers accidentally kill someone in a car accident, vowing to keep what happened a secret before a mysterious figure targets them a year later. The group ends up learning about Ray and Julie’s encounter with the Fisherman, Ben Willis (Muse Watson) in the first movie, causing the two survivors to intersect with the new characters. Whether the film becomes another iconic teen horror movie is unclear, but the images evoke nostalgia ᴀssociated with the original.
Although a new group of characters will be central to the sequel’s story, the highlighted appearances of both Prinze Jr. and Hewitt emphasize they’ll have a key role in everything about to occur. Based on the movie poster, it seems like the Fisherman might be back for another bout of revenge, though it’s unclear if Ray and Julie’s involvement will paint new targets on their backs as well. However, in keeping with the original I Know What You Did Last Summer‘s premise, the movie will likely see the former protagonists in danger as they try to help this new generation.
