Prior to this announcement, it had already been revealed that original Angry Birds Movie voice cast members Jason Sudeikis and Josh Gad would be reprising their roles as the former avian pariah Red and his speedy friend Chuck respectively. However, this update reveals that two more characters are confirmed to return. Danny McBride will be returning as the explosive bird Bomb, who he portrayed in both of the original movies, and Rachel Bloom will be reprising her role as Silver, who was introduced as Red’s love interest in the sequel.

The original Angry Birds Movie debuted in 2016 while The Angry Birds Movie 2 followed it into theaters in 2019.

The characters being played by the incoming cast members are currently unknown, but the ᴀssembled ensemble contains a huge amount of both established and up-and-coming talent, particularly in the comedy sphere. For instance, Marcello Hernández is a breakout Saturday Night Live star known for his newly iconic character Domingo and Tim Robinson is the star and co-creator of the Netflix sketch comedy series I Think You Should Leave.

It Continues A Franchise Tradition

The voice cast for The Angry Birds Movie 3 is following an established pattern for the franchise. Both previous movies have similarly featured SNL alumni (including Maya Rudolph, Kate McKinnon, Bill Hader, Pete Davidson, Beck Bennett, and Leslie Jones) alongside up-and-coming talent (such as Charli XCX, Mckenna Grace, Dove Cameron, Gaten Matarazzo, Brooklynn Prince, and JoJo Siwa) in their ensemble casts. This may prove to be a boon, as the franchise’s critical reception only increased when the second movie’s 72% Rotten Tomatoes score mᴀssively improved upon the original’s 44%, showing how the upcoming installment could follow its lead.
