Following Robert Pattinson’s latest casting report, the potential of The Batman 2 being either delayed or canceled gets clarified in a new report about the DC sequel. While Matt Reeves’ The Batman universe is intended to continue, the wait for The Batman 2 is taking longer than fans were expecting. As The Batman 2 continues to develop, a new report about Pattinson raised questions for some regarding whether the superhero sequel was facing another delay.

As Pattinson is reportedly being considered for a huge role in the upcoming Dune 3 movie that is currently in development, some confusion began to circulate about what this would mean for The Batman 2. Luckily, ᴅᴇᴀᴅline’s Justin Kroll took to X to address whether or not Dune 3 would affect The Batman 2, as he stated the following:

According to the trade reporter, Dune 3 would be starting its principal pH๏τography in the summer, as it has also been reported that The Batman 2 is expected to begin filming towards the end of 2025. At the time of this story’s publication, Legendary Pictures, which produces the Dune movies, and Warner Bros. Discovery, which is its distributor, have not commented on Pattinson’s Dune 3 casting report.

What The Batman 2 Update Means For Robert Pattinson’s DC Sequel

While it is understandable that there is concern about The Batman 2’s hypothetical delay, it’s crucial to take several factors into consideration when it comes to Pattinson’s immediate future. One of the things that many may have missed with Pattinson’s Dune 3 report is that there is no current deal in place, as he is simply being eyed for a role. Until he is fully signed on to join the Dune 3 cast, there is always the possibility that the actor doesn’t board the project, depending on how the conversations and negotiations are turning out.

Even if there was a scenario where Pattinson ends up being cast in Dune 3, and its shooting schedule gets even remotely near or coincides with The Batman 2’s filming schedule, it doesn’t mean he is going to be shooting for all the months that the Dune installment would be in production. It’s very common that actors in supporting roles only shoot for a handful of months before said movie has wrapped filming altogether. This also applies to Pattinson’s upcoming role in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which is filming right now, as it simply means that 2025 will just be a very busy year for the DC actor.

Even if The Batman 2 updates have been limited, it’s comforting to know that Pattinson’s expansive filming schedule seemingly isn’t something that should push his DC movie back any further. If anything, it’s exciting to see a talented actor getting booked for major franchises.
