Brandy’s Potential Return In I Know What You Did Last Summer Sequel Movie Gets Coy Response From Director

The I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot director is coy about Brandy Norwood’s possible return to the slasher franchise. In Jim Gillespie’s 1997 movie, which follows four teenage friends who are stalked by a mysterious killer one year after they covered up a car accident, Norwood played Julie’s (Jennifer Love Hewitt) college pal, Karla Wilson. She later reprised her role in the 1998 sequel and has expressed interest in returning to the slasher franchise alongside Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. in the upcoming 2025 movie.

In an interview with People, the sequel’s director, Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, teases that the upcoming movie, which will hit the theaters on July 18, might have found a way to bring Norwood’s Karla back. When asked whether the star will be in the movie, Robinson keeps the details under wraps, but teases the upcoming movie would make super fans very happy. Check out her comment below:

You’ll have to go see the movie. [They] approached it like super fans, so I think people are going to be really happy. All the things that you want to see in this movie, you’re going to see in this movie.

What This Means For I Know What You Did Last Summer Sequel

I Know What You Did Last Summer Won’t Disappoint

The new I Know What You Did Last Summer movie has plenty in store for both first-time viewers and the franchise’s die-hard fans. In addition to an ensemble of new cast, Robinson also promised that there would be plenty of ’90s nostalgia and throwback references throughout. However, the way the story is told doesn’t necessarily require knowledge of the previous films. In comparison to the original, the director also shared that there’s “more methodology to every kill” in her gory and bloodier sequel.

The new slasher movie pays homage to the franchise’s legacy. While Robinson didn’t confirm whether Norwood will be in the new movie, it’s highly likely to see Karla return as five friends who suffer from a similar fate turn to the two survivors of the 1997 mᴀssacre, Julie and her then-boyfriend, Ray Bronson (Prinze), to help them battle the ᴅᴇᴀᴅly stalker, who’s determined to punish them for what they did.

Our Take On Brandy Returning To I Know What You Did Last Summer

It’s Very Possible

I Know What You Did Last Summer the fisherman in the shadows

Hewitt has compared the 2025 teen horror movie to a high school reunion that evokes a lot of feelings. The past and present are bound to join hands in the highly-anticipated legacy sequel to face an even more ᴅᴇᴀᴅly killer, who brings horror to the next level. Satisfying superfans is a big promise, and it almost sounds like a yes to Norwood’s return to the franchise.

As teased in Sony’s I Know What You Did Last Summer CinemaCon teaser trailer, Julie and Ray are brought together again as a familiar nightmare returns to haunt Southport. Story-wise, it makes perfect sense for them to reach out to Karla, who also survived the attack.
