The Mummy Reboot Adds 3 To Cast, Including Moon Knight Star

The reboot of The Mummy has added three new cast members. Written and directed by Evil ᴅᴇᴀᴅ Rise‘s Lee Cronin, it is a production of Cronin’s company Doppelgängers alongside Blumhouse (2020’s The Invisible Man, 2025’s Wolf Man) and James Wan’s Atomic Monster (The Conjuring, The Monkey). Plot details for the upcoming Mummy reboot are unknown at the time of writing, but it is set to star Jack Reynor (Midsommar, Sing Street) and Goya Award winner Laia Costa (Lullaby, Duck ʙuттer).

Per ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, Verónica Falcón, May Elghety, and May Calamawy have joined the cast of The Mummy, which is currently in production in Spain and Ireland. Details about the characters who the new cast members will be playing are currently under wraps. Elghety is Egyptian and Calamawy is Egyptian-Palestinian, which could tie their characters firmly into the overall history and mythology explored in the project.

What This Means For The Mummy

All Three Actors Are Well-Suited For The Horror Movie

All three actors bring ample experience to the project that should help it thrive. For May Calamawy, this includes the fact that she was previously part of the cast of Marvel’s Moon Knight, a miniseries that was rooted in Egyptian mythology. May Elghety has held a similar role, which is one that also allowed her to dabble in the horror genre ahead of taking a role in The Mummy, when she starred in the main cast of the 2019 Egyptian series Zodiac, which followed a group of college students being targeted by a ᴅᴇᴀᴅly ancient curse.

Moon Knight starred Oscar Isaac as a man with DID who becomes the avatar of the god Khonshu.

While she has less experience with Egyptian mythology in her work, Verónica Falcón has starred in quite a few installments in the horror genre in addition to her work in well-known movie and television тιтles such as Jungle Cruise, Queen of the South (in which she played Doña Camila Vargas, a role that won her an NHMC Impact Award), and Netflix’s Ozark. This roster includes the Blumhouse movies The Forever Purge and Imaginary, so The Mummy is far from her first project with the production company.

Our Take On The New Mummy Cast Members

The Update Could Offer A Major Clue

While the story of The Mummy is still shrouded in mystery, the fact that Verónica Falcón has joined the cast could offer some insight into its setting. While the movie is shooting in Spain, this does not necessarily mean that it will be set there. However, the fact that Falcón is a Spanish-speaking actress, compounded with the fact that star Laia Costa is a Spanish native, could hint at the fact that Spain will portray itself for at least a portion of the movie, which could prove to be a major globetrotting adventure.
