I’m Worried We May Never See This Powerful MCU Phase 5 Hero Again After Avengers: Doomsday’s Cast Announcement

There’s one powerful hero from Phase 5 of the MCU that I would still love to see return in Avengers: Doomsday, despite not being confirmed in Marvel’s first cast announcement. At the end of March, Marvel Studios confirmed the first 27 actors set to reprise their MCU roles in Avengers: Doomsday, including members of the Avengers, the Thunderbolts, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men. These heroes will come together to fight Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, but I’d love to see even more characters brought back, including one you might have forgotten from Phase 5.

Avengers: Doomsday’s first cast announcement included some huge surprises. I certainly didn’t expect to see classic X-Men actors such as Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming and Rebecca Romijn confirmed, while I’m also very excited to see Namor, Shang-Chi and Thor, among many others, returning. However, there are many Marvel actors that I’m shocked weren’t mentioned, but I think one, aside from the likes of Mark Ruffalo, Brie Larson, Elizabeth Olsen and more, would fit perfectly into the story of Avengers: Doomsday, and would be a huge ᴀsset in the fight against Doctor Doom.

Secret Invasion’s G’iah Is One Of My Favorite New MCU Characters (But I’m Worried About Her Future)

Emilia Clarke Debuted As G’iah In Secret Invasion

2023’s Secret Invasion was a disappointment for the MCU, but there were many parts of the series that I really enjoyed. It was great to see Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury back in action, but it was Emilia Clarke’s G’iah who stole the show for me. G’iah was introduced as Talos’ daughter working within the ranks of Gravik’s Skrull rebellion, but, by the end of the series, she was also elevated to the role of Super Skrull. G’iah became one of the MCU’s most powerful new heroes by acquiring the abilities of other characters from the Harvest.

Emilia Clarke’s performance as G’iah was electric, delivering intensity, power and a fantastic screen presence that stole attention at every turn. Clarke is one of the biggest stars in the world thanks to her long-running role of Daenerys Targaryen in HBO’s Game of Thrones, so it would be a mistake for Marvel Studios to just forget about her after Secret Invasion’s failures. There has, however, been no word on Clarke reprising the role of G’iah in the MCU’s future, which has me worried about the Super Skrull’s next steps.

Marvel Studios Has Completely Moved On From Secret Invasion’s Storyline

Secret Invasion’s Events Haven’t Been Mentioned In 2 Years

Unfortunately, it’s very possible that Emilia Clarke’s G’iah could become a fatality of Secret Invasion’s failures, especially since Marvel Studios has all but forgotten about the Phase 5 series. Secret Invasion set up some huge storylines for the MCU, but none of this has been followed up on. Nick Fury’s transformation in the series was not referenced or mentioned in 2023’s The Marvels, nor was the Skrull rebellion, despite Fury and SABER having a key role in both projects. Marvel’s forgetfulness became even more prominent in 2025’s Captain America: Brave New World.

The end of Secret Invasion saw Dermot Mulroney’s President Ritson declare war on the world’s extraterrestrials, Skrull or not, which could have been huge for the MCU. However, Brave New World saw Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus Ross elected President, and he did not mention Ritson’s war whatsoever, so it’s seemingly over before it ever began. No other project has mentioned Secret Invasion at all, so I’m very worried that Emilia Clarke’s G’iah, who was last seen making a deal with Olivia Colman’s incredible Sonya Falsworth, will also be forgotten by Marvel Studios.

Avengers: Doomsday Is The Perfect Place For G’iah To Return To The MCU

Emilia Clarke Could Easily Return In Avengers: Doomsday

Emilia Clarke's G'iah staring into the distance in Secret Invasion

Even though Emilia Clarke doesn’t yet have a confirmed future in the MCU, I reckon Avengers: Doomsday would be the perfect place for her to return. Marvel has already announced 27 actors returning in Doomsday, and speculation suggests this could only be less than half of the movie’s full cast, which makes me think there’s still plenty of room for Emilia Clarke. G’iah has the powers of many formidable MCU characters, so would be either a mᴀssive ᴀsset to Doomsday’s heroes or a key threat to Doctor Doom.

It’s very possible that Doctor Doom could target G’iah in Avengers: Doomsday in the hopes of acquiring all her abilities. This could set up the most powerful and unstoppable version of Doctor Doom ever seen, which would surely give him the level of power necessary to build Battleworld and set himself up as “God Emperor,” just as he does in Marvel Comics’ 2015 Secret Wars storyline. Emilia Clarke deserves more in the MCU than just being tied to Secret Invasion, and the crossover potential of Avengers: Doomsday presents the perfect opportunity for G’iah to return.
