Doctor Doom Becomes The MCU’s Next Scarlet Witch To Try & Save His Children In Avengers: Doomsday Theory

Doctor Doom is set to be the next big Marvel Cinematic Universe villain in Avengers: Doomsday, and a new theory suggests that his motivations have a surprising amount in common with the Scarlet Witch. While little is known about the story, the cast for Avengers: Doomsday suggests that the film will be set across multiple universes, telling an enormous story. Much of this could coincide with a Doctor Doom story detail pulled directly from Marvel Comics.

Wanda Maximoff was a complex character, and many still hope to see Scarlet Witch return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, it’s notable how much she and Doctor Doom have in common. They are both immensely powerful with magic, and their similarities actually led the two to pursue a romantic relationship in the comics. However, there is an even greater similarity between the two characters that could help to influence the plot of Avengers: Doomsday in an interesting and familiar way.

The Fantastic Four: First Step’s Child Tease Raises Questions About Sue Storm’s Other Child

Valeria Richards Has Multiversal Ties To Doctor Doom

In a recent presentation at CinemaCon, Disney showed new footage of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which revealed that Sue Storm will be pregnant in the film. While this pregnancy is expected to result in Franklin Richards, the child of Sue and Reed, there is a multiversal precedent in the comics for Sue having a child with Victor. On Earth-99315, where Sue is Baroness von Doom, the two have a child named Valeria. This detail could be an important part of the Multiverse Saga.

Valeria’s biological father is still Reed even in the aforementioned timeline where she is raised by Sue and Doom.

Granted, the children of Reed and Sue are more central figures, and the multiversal children of Sue and Victor are not given nearly as much featured time in the comics, especially as the Earth-616 version of Valeria exists. Notably, Doom is still Valeria’s godfather because he delivered her after Sue’s pregnancy took a potentially fatal turn, and the two share a unique bond.

However, there are universes in the vast multiverse where Victor and Sue have ended up together and have had children together. Knowing that this is a possibility could factor into Doom’s motivations, and it would also be a great way to tie in several of these new Marvel stories together with ones in the past.

Doctor Doom Fighting Fate To Try And Save His Child Would Tie Into A Lot Of MCU Stories

The Story Would Make Sense For The Multiverse Saga

The Multiverse Saga has seen stories about fighting against fate, and trying to find new ways to let other possibilities thrive. This was featured in stories like Loki, but this has especially been featured in WandaVision and its subsequent follow-up in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Wanda created an idealized world with her children, then scoured the Multiverse for them in a way that connected with all kinds of projects. This turned Wanda into a villain, and she was eventually killed at the end of Doctor Strange 2.

More than that story, this motivation for Doom would also connect intricately with the storyline of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Details of Sue’s pregnancy and the possible family thereafter could be a huge component of Doom’s story. With so many connections across the Marvel multiverse, and so many incredible characters and details to coincide with, allowing Doom’s motivations to center around putting his family back together in a search for Valeria could be a humanizing and yet complex propellant for the villain.

Having Doctor Doom Become Avengers: Doomsday’s Villain To Try & Save Valeria Would Help Set Up Avengers: Secret Wars

Merging Worlds Together Could Ensure That Valeria Lives

Doctor Doom may be a villain, but his motivations are generally very human. Some of his motivation in the 2015 Secret Wars was about building a world that could protect Valeria, and this could be used well to explain his goal as the villain of Avengers: Secret Wars. In order to keep Valeria safe and in his life, Doom may be willing to destroy every universe where she isn’t. This father-daughter connection would also harken back to Iron Man’s relationship with Morgan Stark in Avengers: Endgame.

If Doom is able to save a universe, it will be the one where he has everything that he wants. With incredible power, Doom still has great weaknesses that relate to his arrogance and selfishness. Having someone like Valeria be the motivating factor for him in the upcoming Avengers films could be a perfect way to make the villain relatable, yet give him a terrifying and destructive goal. Whether or not this becomes the bulk of his motivation, it would make sense to be at least part.

Doctor Doom aspires to be the greatest villain that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has yet seen, and giving him realistic motivations can only help with that. Doom is a terrifying foe, but he is also human and has all the weaknesses that come with that. With an excellent performer like Robert Downey Jr. behind him, there is much to hope for from the villain in Avengers: Doomsday. Including the multiversal possibility of Valeria von Doom could be a great way to tie all of that together in a satisfying way.
