Rachel Zegler’s Snow White Remake Pᴀsses Key Box Office Milestone (But Can It Hit $100M Domestically)

2025’s Snow White has hit a major box office milestone. The Disney live-action remake, which was directed by Marc Webb, stars Rachel Zegler in the тιтle role opposite Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen and features new original songs by Pasek and Paul along with classics from the 1937 movie including “Heigh-Ho” and “Whistle While You Work.” Snow White backlash marred the debut of the new movie, coming from many corners including the property’s depiction of dwarfism and the leads’ opposing opinions on Israel and Palestine.

Per ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, as of Saturday morning, Snow White is projected to earn a 3-day total of $5.9 million by the end of its third weekend at the domestic box office, bringing its cumulative domestic total to $77.3 million. This sees it falling from No. 2 to No. 4 on the chart for the weekend behind week 2 of A Working Man (No. 2) and the new releases A Minecraft Movie (No. 1) and The Chosen: Last Supper – Part 2 (No. 3).

While this cumulative total means that it has pᴀssed the $75 million milestone at the domestic box office, Variety reports that current projections show that it may not end up pᴀssing $100 million in North America by the end of its run.

What This Means For Snow White

Its Success Is Hampered By Its Budget

Hitting the $75 million milestone at the domestic box office is no small achievement. In fact, the live-action Snow White is only the fourth 2025 release to have done so this year so far, behind only Dog Man, Captain America: Brave New World, and A Minecraft Movie. However, the fact that it may not crest $100 million in North America could be severely damaging, especially because its international grosses have so far remained roughly even with its domestic haul.

A Minecraft Movie is poised to have a record-breaking opening weekend north of $100 million.

This is an issue because of the huge Snow White budget, which is reportedly $250 million. Because movies typically need to earn two and a half times their production budgets in theaters in order to turn a profit, this most likely places the movie’s break-even point somewhere around $625 million or more. Given the fact that it may not even hit $250 million by the end of its theatrical, this will most likely mean significant losses for Disney.

Our Take On The Snow White Milestone

Disney’s 2025 Could Be Flop-Proof

While Snow White could very well lose Disney millions of dollars, the company will likely not suffer for long. Their upcoming slate includes a wide variety of movies connected to strong IP that could very well turn their prospects around. This includes the live-action remake of Lilo & Sтιтch (which does not come with the same baggage of controversy as Snow White), the legacy sequel Freakier Friday, Zootopia 2, Pixar’s Elio, and Marvel’s Fantastic Four: First Steps and Thunderbolts*.
