M3GAN 2.0 Trailer: The Killer AI Gets A High-Tech Upgrade To Fight An Evil Android & Protect Cady In Bonkers Sequel

The first official trailer for M3GAN 2.0 has arrived. Talk of a sequel began before the Blumhouse killer doll thriller even hit theaters in early 2023, and the viral success of the original soon prompted active development of its follow-up, which will arrive in theaters in June. The upcoming M3GAN 2.0 features the return of many original cast members, including Allison Williams as roboticist Gemma and Violet McGraw as her orphaned niece Cady alongside Amie Donald and Jenna Davis as the body and voice of the тιтle character respectively.

Blumhouse has now released the first official trailer for M3GAN 2.0. The trailer begins with M3GAN reflecting on her previous exploits while “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday” by Boyz II Men plays. Then she returns in the form of a cute robot, having had her AI transferred to a new body by Gemma, who promises her an upgrade if she behaves.

However, the upgrade comes sooner than later, as a rogue AI named Amelia, built using the supposedly destroyed design for M3GAN, targets everyone involved in her creation, including Cady and Gemma. This forces them to return M3GAN to her body, with some major upgrades, in order to help protect them. What follows is a series of superhero-esque antics, including M3GAN flying, though her old self comes to the fore in the final scene, when she offers Amelia the chance to kill Gemma if she saves Cody. What This Means For M3GAN 2.0

The Sequel Is Going For Broke

This new trailer is a far cry from the original M3GAN 2.0 teaser, which simply featured footage of the killer doll recreating her iconic dance from the original movie in silhouette while Chappell Roan’s “Femininomenon” blared. Now, the inner workings of the movie’s plot have been revealed, and they one-up the previous installment in an outlandish fashion.

It remains to be seen if this approach allows the movie to connect with audiences…

Although the original movie had its fair share of comedic moments, M3GAN 2.0 seems to be embracing the most ludicrous possible plot developments. It remains to be seen if this approach allows the movie to connect with audiences, but there is a tremendous amount of general goodwill toward the franchise that could aid it in its mission. After all, the original movie has a Certified Fresh 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes, accompanied by a solid 78% audience score, so the sequel could harness its success to get bigger and potentially even better.

Our Take On The M3GAN 2.0 Trailer

Amelia Helps The Movie Find Its Balance

Perhaps the most important moment in the M3GAN 2.0 trailer is the arrival of Amelia. Her presence allows the movie to embrace the Terminator 2 approach of having the original movie’s beloved character act as more of a hero. Additionally, the anticipated 2025 horror movie can use the dicH๏τomy between the two robots to balance the humor of M3GAN’s scenes with the terror and intensity of Amelia’s.
