New The Fantastic Four: First Steps footage details reveal a major Marvel Cinematic Universe arc for one of the heroes while also introducing the Silver Surfer. After years of not seeing them in the MCU, Marvel Studios’ long-awaited Fantastic Four reboot is finally bringing the characters into the franchise, but with a twist. Instead of taking place on Earth-616, The Fantastic Four: First Steps will focus on the team in an alternate universe, before they eventually show up in the next Avengers movies in 2026 and 2027.

Marvel Studios held a presentation during Disney’s panel at this year’s CinemaCon, where ScreenRant was in attendance, and new footage from The Fantastic Four: First Steps was unveiled to the crowd. The latest The Fantastic Four: First Steps footage revealed the following about the Phase 6 installment:

The teaser begins with the host of The Ted Gilbert Show talking about the story of the Fantastic Four, with people saying, “Thank you, Fantastic Four.” We have a couple sH๏τs from the first teaser.

Then at a family dinner, Sue reveals she is pregnant.

“Are you the protectors of this world? Your planet is now marked for death,” an alien woman says to the Fantastic Four. Then all of the electronics, or at least the lights, in the world go out. A man asks Mister Fantastic, “Are we safe?” He responds, “I don’t know.” We see him try and fail to solve some kind of problem.

After a couple of action sH๏τs, it wraps up with Mister Fantastic saying, “We will protect you.” The final sH๏τ is of the Silver Surfer, a female version it seemed like – Shalla Bal?

What The Fantastic Four: First Steps Footage Details Reveal

Given that The Fantastic Four: First Steps cast will portray a version of Marvel’s First Family that is already established and operating in their world, the confirmation of Sue being pregnant makes perfect sense. However, as the footage confirms Sue’s pregnancy in the Phase 6 installment, it also sets up another mᴀssive character in the MCU, with this child expected to be none other than Franklin Richards, who is her and Reed’s firstborn in the Marvel canon.

While The Fantastic Four: First Steps teaser trailer never showed the character, the new footage from CinemaCon reaffirms that Silver Surfer will be a rival to the iconic group of heroes. While most fans know of Silver Surfer as Norrin Radd, the character that Julia Garner is playing is Shalla-Bal; The Fantastic Four: First Steps will mark her live-action debut. Whether or not Norrin is part of Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four reboot remains to be seen, as no one has been formally announced to be playing him in the film.

From everything that was revealed from CinemaCon’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps footage, Marvel Studios is continuing on the right track with this reboot of the superhero team, as they are long overdue for a proper live-action depiction. While it was already known that Silver Surfer would be in the film, Franklin’s MCU debut definitely raises a lot of questions about the character’s future in the franchise after this movie. Hopefully, it won’t be much longer until Marvel Studios debut the next official The Fantastic Four: First Steps trailer, as the Phase 6 adventure gets closer to its summer release.
