Verity CinemaCon Teaser Description: Anne Hathaway Dreams About Her Darker Self In Colleen Hoover Adaptation

A teaser for Verity has been shown at CinemaCon. The adaptation of the Colleen Hoover book stars Anne Hathaway as Verity Crawford, Josh Hartnett as Jeremy Crawford, and Dakota Johnson as Lowen Ashleigh. Lowen is asked by Jeremy to complete a manuscript that Verity was unable to complete due to a mysterious accident.

At Amazon MGM’s CinemaCon panel, which was attended by ScreenRant, a teaser was shown. The footage begins by focusing on Verity and Jeremy meeting and seeing how their relationship initially developed. There are also sH๏τs teasing the state that Verity is in after her accident and the impact that the mysterious incident has had on her psychological welfare. Check out the description of the footage below:

The teaser begins with Josh Hartnett and Anne Hathaway meeting each other in a bar, and Hartnett hitting on her. She turns him down. We cut to a sH๏τ of her presumably paraplegic. We then see Anne dreaming, seeing a version of herself that’s darker and more sinister. It ends on a cop asking Dakota Johnson’s character, “Are you by any chance working on the next Verity book?” She responds, “It’ll be the best one yet.”

What This Means For Verity

The Cast Is Well-Suited To Bringing The Source Material To Life

While little is shown in the teaser for Verity, the emphasis is on the psychological state of Hathaway’s тιтular character and the impact this will have on the story. Hathaway’s best movies have consistently demonstrated her ability to capture a wide range of emotions. With Verity dreaming of darker and more sinister versions of herself, Hathaway’s range will once again be on display, and will be one of the movie’s main selling points.

Following the commercial success of It Ends With Us, there will be high expectations for this Hoover adaptation to also perform well. Based on this teaser, Verity‘s marketing will lean into the story’s many unsettling aspects and heighten the intrigue surrounding it. Much like this first look, Hathaway should be at the forefront of the marketing, along with Hartnett and Johnson bringing their star power to make the movie appealing as well.

Our Take On Verity’s Teaser

Verity Can Build On The Success Of It Ends With Us

Blake Lively's Lily looking angry at someone in It Ends With Us

Verity‘s cast is one of the most appealing parts of the movie, and the CinemaCon teaser gives even more reason to look forward to their performances. Hathaway, Hartnett, and Johnson are all strong casting choices to play these characters from Hoover’s psychological thriller novel. These strengths could allow Verity to build on the success of It Ends With Us and become another box office hit based on Hoover’s popular novels.
