Original X-Men Cast Member Addresses Being Missing From Avengers: Doomsday’s Cast Announcement

One of the original X-Men stars who wasn’t part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement teases whether or not their Marvel character will be returning in the MCU movie. Phase 6 had its biggest announcement for 2025 recently when Marvel Studios began a surprise livestream to reveal what Marvel Cinematic Universe players will be back for Avengers: Doomsday, as the film is now officially in production. However, one of the big takeaways from this announcement was the fact that several X-Men actors are set to reprise their roles in the mᴀssive team-up film.

During a new interview with Black Girl Nerds, Halle Berry, who played Storm in Fox’s X-Men movies in the early 2000s, was asked if her name may be one of the missing names that will show up in a future Avengers: Doomsday cast announcement, as there was no chair for her during the initial reveal. For fans hoping to see Berry’s Storm get announced for Avengers: Doomsday, the actress sadly had the following update:

Keep waiting! [Not] gonna be there! [laughs] It’s not gonna be there.

Berry last portrayed her version of Storm in 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, where she was part of the dystopian future against the Sentinels. The last fans see of Storm in X-Men: Days of Future Past is Berry’s character being alive again in the rebooted timeline.

What Halle Berry’s Comments Mean For Avengers: Doomsday

While Berry’s comments may be disappointing to long-time X-Men fans, there are a few possible scenarios that may be going on here in terms of Storm’s MCU involvement. With the large scope of the Avengers: Doomsday announcements that came recently, it’s clear that Marvel Studios hasn’t revealed everyone yet, potentially because of deals still being signed. In Berry’s case, it wouldn’t be shocking if the reason she said in this interview is because there is nothing set in stone yet for Storm to come back.

However, if this is a situation where Berry isn’t being coy and hiding an upcoming announcement, there is always the chance that she could instead be back for Avengers: Secret Wars. If the confirmed X-Men cast members end up coming back in Avengers: Secret Wars after their return in Avengers: Doomsday, Storm’s Berry being brought into the fold in the 2027 follow-up could serve as a natural story reason for why she isn’t in the 2026 movie. But at the time of this story’s publication, it’s not known if the announced X-Men stars are expected to be in Avengers: Secret Wars.

Our Take On Halle Berry’s Avengers: Doomsday Comments

While time will tell if Berry actually is or isn’t part of the Avengers: Doomsday cast, it would be surprising if Marvel Studios doesn’t bring back her version of Storm for at least one of the two Avengers movies in Phase 6. Given that The Multiverse Saga is likely going to be the last time some of the original X-Men stars get to play their respective characters, this would be the proper time for Berry to get one last go with Storm. But for now, the world will have to wait and see if additional X-Men characters will appear in Avengers: Doomsday.
