“I Didn’t Understand”: Ben Stiller Had The Perfect Response About One Of The Most Outrageous Scenes Of His Entire Career

American comedy actor Ben Stiller made some comments on one of the best scenes of There’s Something About Mary that resonate completely. The actor is widely appreciated as one of the best in comedy, bringing jokes from the disgusting to the sensitive to the screen. Inevitably, the best Ben Stiller movies tend toward the silly, with gross-out moments coming thick and fast. From the nipple-milking scene of Meet the Parents to the scene referenced by Stiller in his interview on The Howard Stern Show, Stiller proved his alacrity in the face of humiliation many times.

Some of the funniest Ben Stiller movie quotes ever spring from this tendency to not shy away from the world’s most embarrᴀssing humor. Somewhere between stomach-turning, totally horrific, and utterly endearing are words from movies like There’s Something About Mary. Nobody will forget the line “I got it stuck, as Ben Stiller’s character endured the tragicomic incident that led to him seeking out Mary in his later years. Stiller spoke on The Howard Stern Show about this character, Ted Stroehmann, and his misfortunes in one particularly memorable moment of There’s Something About Mary.

In his interview on The Howard Stern Show, Ben Stiller spoke about how he couldn’t believe that one of the characters in There’s Something About Mary, Ted Stroehmann, missed what was on his ear. In the infamous scene, Stroehmann’s attempts to relieve himself in preparation for his date with Mary left a distinct white residue hanging from his ear. In the interview, Stiller said he had wanted to add a backstory about Stroehmann having numb ears to make this more believable, which may have made it more credible, although no less hilarious.

There’s Something About Mary Is Still One Of Ben Stiller’s Best Comedies

Ben Stiller Specializes In Goofy Humor

Ben Stiller is a Hollywood legend, embodying American humor to its core, and There’s Something About Mary epitomizes this. From Ben Stiller cameos to his leading roles, the actor led a trend in Hollywood of making comedy grotesque, rude, and ridiculously outlandish. Sacrificing the British politeness of cult indie comedies like Submarine, The 40-Year-Old Virgin and the American Pie movies could never have been made if it wasn’t for There’s Something About Mary. Sєx jokes have a unique appeal, and they proved wildly successful from There’s Something About Mary onwards.

Although all of those movies —There’s Something About Mary, American Pie, and The 40-Year-Old Virgin peddle some frustratingly outdated gender stereotypes, they soothe many familiar and universal doubts and insecurities. There’s Something About Mary was influential because it brought private disasters into public laughter and discussion, despite its unbalanced examination of relationship dynamics. Vying for Mary’s attention alongside a host of other men, Ben Stiller made it funny to be pathetic in There’s Something About Mary, and, therefore, he made it somewhat more OK. Everyone struggles with clunky zippers sometimes.
