Dominic Toretto & Riddick Are Cool, But Vin Diesel’s Most Powerful Character Comes From This 10-Year-Old Fantasy Movie

Vin Diesel

has played a wide range of characters in his career, but the strongest may actually be in a 2015 fantasy movie far less known than his Riddick and Fast and Furious franchises. If there were to be eight movies that defined Vin Diesel’s career, few would add this fantasy flick to the list. It’s a brilliant display of fantasy action, which should be coming back to the front of the public consciousness with Christopher Nolan’s next movie, The Odyssey. And, it showcases Diesel’s most powerful character to date.

While Diesel plays Dominic “Dom” Toretto in the Fast and Furious movies and Richard B. Riddick in The Chronicles of Riddick, he portrays a most unusual man in The Last Witch Hunter. Released 10 years ago, this epic picture proves that Diesel has more tricks up his sleeve than some give him credit for. Dom’s morality in Fast and Furious complements his unbelievable racing skills and gave Vin Diesel the tough hero persona that he came to be known for. Yet never was this persona more pronounced than in The Last Witch Hunter.

Vin Diesel Plays An Immortal In The Last Witch Hunter

Diesel’s Character In The Last Witch Hunter Is Superhuman

Vin Diesel plays an immortal witch hunter called Kaulder in The Last Witch Hunter, which was directed by Breck Eisner and follows Kaulder as he kills or imprisons witches who pose a threat to humanity. Kaulder is ᴀssisted by a priest, and together, they unearth a conspiracy to unleash a dangerous Queen witch with very personal links to Kaulder himself. The movie received generally unfavorable reviews at the time, but The Last Witch Hunter 2 movie is in development, proving the original’s popularity with audiences and a strong following of fans.

Riddick Is Tough, But Kaulder Is Vin Diesel’s Most Powerful Character

Diesel Plays A Wide Range Of Heroes

Vin Diesel is virtually synonymous with the phrase “tough guy,” and he lived this personality through to its most logical conclusion in his role in The Last Witch Hunter. Years before the events of The Last Witch Hunter, Kaulder attacked the Witch Queen, and she cursed him with eternal life. A blessing and a curse, this immortality is obviously a key signifier of Kaulder’s strength compared to Diesel’s other characters. Not even all Fast and Furious movies together could make Dom strong enough to compete with Kaulder.

Riddick is one of the last surviving members of his race in The Chronicles of Riddick as he navigates mercenaries, storms, and invasions, leading to many of Vin Diesel’s most badᴀss action movie scenes. But Riddick would still probably lose in a fight to Kaulder, whose immortality grants him a certain advantage, along with the many skills he learned over his many long years. While Vin Diesel looks and acts the part of the tough guy in all his best movie franchises, fans may want to turn to The Last Witch Hunter to see him pushing it to the maximum.
