Kathryn Hahn Reveals The Lesson From Amy Poehler That She Brought To Set On Agatha All Along

Agatha Harkness actor Kathryn Hahn reveals how she adapted a lesson from Parks and Recreation co-star Amy Poehler into her relationship with the Agatha All Along MCU cast. After her main villain role in WandaVision, Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness returned as an anti-hero in her own MCU show, Agatha All Along. Harkness was accompanied by Agatha All Along‘s cast of witches, which featured Agatha’s very own coven and her unlikely apprentice, Joe Locke’s Billy Maximoff a.k.a. Wiccan — Scarlet Witch’s son.

In an episode of Mythical Kitchen, Agatha All Along star Kathryn Hahn recalls a lesson she learned from Parks and Recreation co-star Amy Poehler and explains how she incorporated it into Agatha All Along. Hahn underlines the importance of maintaining an “ensemble” dynamic with her fellow MCU actors in Agatha All Along, with the priority of helping every actors “feel as free and comfortable to play”. Read Hahn’s comments:

“I like an ensemble, like that’s how I began as an ensemble […] So I always think like… Taking lessons, like, from people that I’ve worked with the best in the number one position. I just think my job, like one of my jobs, is also to make an ensemble. Like make sure that everybody feels as comfortable as possible, as safe as possible. And I remember Amy… just being so supportive of everybody with it would come and that they felt so free. Yeah, and that’s, I think the main thing you want is to have every actor feel as free and comfortable to play.”

Kathryn Hahn also highlights the diversity of Agatha All Along‘s cast. Hahn remarks that it “felt like a little coven” and it stands out because such a diverse group of actors and characters isn’t “usually represented, especially in Marvel.” Indeed, Agatha All Along‘s cast has been one of the most diverse in live-action. Hahn says:

“We had such an amazing cast of all ages, so like incredible women and… incredible queer people, Joe Locke… So, it definitely felt like a little coven because we were, it was such a scrappy group that aren’t usually represented, especially in Marvel.”

What Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha All Along Cast Comments Mean

Agatha All Along’s Whole Coven Held The Spotlight In Agatha Harkness’ MCU Show

Agatha All Along may be Agatha Harkness’ solo spinoff in theory, but in spirit, it’s an ensemble series. Each member of Agatha Harkness’ coven of witches received their own episode that detailed their backstory, motivations, fears, and resolution of their character arc — all encapsulated by their turn solving a trial in the Witches’ Road. Alice Wu-Gulliver and Lilia Calderu sacrificed their lives to complete their respective trials, but not without coming to terms with their bottled-up emotions and their fate.

Billy Maximoff’s co-starring role in Agatha All Along was also a welcome surprise, as Marvel merged the stories of Wanda Maximoff’s enemy and son seamlessly in her absence. Besides, Agatha All Along introduced Death and revealed her to be Agatha Harkness’ old flame. In short, Agatha All Along split the spotlight among several characters and gave each of them their fair treatment. As if that weren’t enough, the Agatha All Along finale teased Agatha and Billy’s future adventures together and Tommy Maximoff’s reincarnation.

Our Take On Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha All Along Cast Comments

Agatha All Along’s Character Dynamics Might Be Unrepeatable

Agatha All Along‘s ensemble cast dynamics likely won’t be repeated in a potential Agatha All Along season 2. Not only did two key members of Agatha’s coven die (and Agatha herself died as well), but showrunner Jac Schaeffer revealed that both WandaVision and Agatha All Along won’t have a second season. Schaeffer has expressed interest in returning to Agatha All Along‘s world, but any continuation to Agatha All Along will probably look very different to Agatha Harkness’ first spinoff series.
