Snow White’s Rotten Tomatoes Score Continues A Disappointing Rachel Zegler Trend That She Deserves Better Than

Even though her performance is great in the movie, Snow White continues an unfortunate Rotten Tomatoes streak for Rachel Zegler. Playing the leading role in Snow White was always a risky decision for Zegler, especially since many of the recent live-action Disney remakes have not been critically successful. Even though Zegler’s newest movie is an adaptation of an iconic story, critics have not been kind to it. Reviews for Snow White have not been very positive, with Screen Rant’s own Rachel Labonte giving the movie an underwhelming score of 5 out of 10.

However, even though many reviews of the movie are negative, it has consistently been stated that Rachel Zegler is perfect as Snow White. Since the release of the Disney adaptation, the use of CGI for the seven dwarfs and Gal Gadot’s performance as the Evil Queen have been criticized, but it has been hard to attack Zegler for her portrayal of the iconic princess. Therefore, despite the controversy and negativity, Snow White once again proves that Zegler is an amazing actor. However, despite this, Snow White does continue a disappointing Rotten Tomatoes streak for Zegler.

Snow White Is Rachel Zegler’s Third Straight “Rotten” Movie On Rotten Tomatoes

Zegler’s Recent Movies Haven’t Been Received Well

Even though she has been consistently praised for her performances, Snow White is Zegler’s third movie in a row with a “Rotten” status on Rotten Tomatoes. To be deemed Rotten on the review aggregator website, a movie needs to have a score lower than 60%. Currently, Snow White has a 42% on Rotten Tomatoes, which ties it with the lowest-rated movie of Zegler’s career. In addition to Snow White, Zegler’s two films from 2024 also have Rotten scores. Y2K also has a 42%, while the animated movie Spellbound has a 48%.

Rachel Zegler’s Movies

RT Critics Score

Snow White (2025)

42%

Y2K (2024)

42%

Spellbound (2024)

48%

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (2023)

64%

Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023)

49%

West Side Story (2021)

91%

Zegler’s most recent movie receiving negative reviews shouldn’t necessarily be surprising, since there has been a lot of controversy surrounding Snow White for years. However, Y2K and Spellbound both could have been successful movies for the actor. Y2K is a horror/comedy about machines rising up against humanity, and Spellbound is an animated fantasy film about a princess accidently turning her parents into monsters. Both of these movies have interesting premises and could have found success, but just ultimately didn’t resonate with audiences.

Rachel Zegler’s Rotten Tomatoes Track Record Isn’t That Great Overall

None Of Zegler’s Movies Have Come Close To West Side Story’s RT Score

While Zegler’s movie career got off to a great start after she starred in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, her overall Rotten Tomatoes track record isn’t that impressive. After impressing critics and audiences as Maria in West Side Story, Zegler also starred in Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. Out of these two major blockbusters, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, while Fury of the Gods is Rotten.

This means that four of Zegler’s six movies are Rotten on the review aggregator website. Additionally, even though The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes has a Fresh rating, it only sits at 64% on Rotten Tomatoes, meaning that it barely missed out on a Rotten status. Zegler’s overal Rotten Tomatoes track record proves that Zegler hasn’t had a critical success since West Side Story. While she has consistently starred in popular films, her movie choices have not resonated with critics at all.

Rachel Zegler’s Poor Rotten Tomatoes History Isn’t Her Fault

Zegler Has Given Several Great Performances

Even though Zegler’s Rotten Tomatoes track record hasn’t been impressive, her performances in all her movies have been great. It is not a surprise that Zegler has starred in so many mᴀssive films, since she was a clear standout in West Side Story. Her role in Spielberg’s adaptation of the iconic musical earned her immense praise, and she even won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy. The critical success of West Side Story led to Zegler landing high-profile roles in other major movies, such as The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and Snow White.

While it is disappointing that Zegler’s movies are bad more often than not, her leading roles in West Side Story, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and Snow White prove that she always delivers outstanding performances.

Even though the Rotten Tomatoes score for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes isn’t that high, I think it is an amazing Hunger Games spinoff movie. In the film, Zegler delivers an emotional performance as Lucy Gray Baird. Zegler ensures that Lucy Gray Baird is not only the best character in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, but also one of the best characters in the entire Hunger Games franchise. Even though she will likely only ever appear in one film, Zegler ensures that Lucy Gray Baird will be remembered in future Hunger Games movies.

Most recently, Zegler was once again a standout performer in Snow White. Throughout the movie, Zegler proves that she was the perfect choice to play the iconic Disney princess. Zegler performs many songs in Snow White, but also excels in the film’s quieter and more subdued moments. While some fans may not be happy with some of the changes that Snow White makes to the original animated movie, it is clear that Zegler truly cares about the role and put a lot of effort into the character.

I Hope Rachel Zegler’s Future Rotten Tomatoes Scores Better Reflect Her Talent

Zegler Deserves To Star In Another Critically Acclaimed Movie

While it is disappointing that Zegler’s movies are bad more often than not, her leading roles in West Side Story, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and Snow White prove that she always delivers outstanding performances. She has been involved in some controversies that have led to some moviegoers criticizing her, but in my opinion, Zegler is clearly one of the best young actors working today.

Because of this, I hope that Zegler’s future movies have better Rotten Tomatoes scores. Currently, Zegler has no announced movies lined up after Snow White, so it’s hard to tell whether she will find more critical success soon. However, she will undeniably be busy in 2025, as she is playing the leading role in the upcoming stageplay Evita. While Zegler has no upcoming movies announced, I am excited to see what she will do next after the controversial Snow White, and hope that her next movie’s Rotten Tomatoes score will better reflect her immense talent.
