Doomsday Already Has 3 Superhero Teams, And We Don’t Know Who The Avengers Are

Marvel Studios has confirmed several heroes from at least three different superhero teams set to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, but hasn’t yet announced an official line-up for the new Avengers team in the MCU. Alongside the Russo brothers being confirmed to be directing the upcoming Phase 6 sequel, Robert Downey Jr. was announced as Avengers: Doomsday’s first cast member at SDCC 2024. He will be bringing Doctor Doom to life, and this legendary supervillain is expected to be opposed by many iconic heroes in his MCU debut.

Production on the 2026 crossover movie and its 2027 sequel, Secret Wars, is well underway, prompting Marvel Studios to finally confirm several members of Avengers: Doomsday’s highly-anticipated cast. In this drawn-out announcement on March 26, Marvel released the names of Doomsday’s roster in roughly 15-minute intervals, kicking off at 11am ET. These names include characters ᴀssociated with at least three different superhero teams, which promises a jam-packed line-up in Doomsday, though there is still one huge mystery Marvel needs to solve.

Avengers: Doomsday Has Already Confirmed 3 Superhero Teams

The Avengers, Thunderbolts & Fantastic Four Have Been Confirmed For Doomsday

The cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps was confirmed to be returning for Avengers: Doomsday prior to March’s official announcement, but Marvel has now cemented this, revealing that Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joseph Quinn and (presumably) Pedro Pascal will be returning for the Phase 6 crossover after their 2025 debut. They will be joined by members of the upcoming Thunderbolts team. This includes Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes, Wyatt Russell’s US Agent, David Harbour’s Red Guardian and Lewis Pullman’s Sentry, with the others presumably following suit.

Marvel Studios also confirmed that Kelsey Grammer would be returning as Hank McCoy’s Beast in Avengers: Doomsday. This suggests that a version of the X-Men team, whether from Fox’s X-Men franchise or the alternate universe from The Marvels, will also appear in Doomsday.

As well as the Fantastic Four and the Thunderbolts, Avengers: Doomsday will clearly also feature the тιтular Avengers team. The Avengers disbanded after Endgame, and hasn’t been active throughout the Multiverse Saga, but Captain America: Brave New World teased the team’s reformation, and this has now all but been confirmed for Doomsday. Even so, the line-up of the Avengers hasn’t been announced, which leaves Doomsday with plenty of explaining to do, as Marvel has only confirmed two official members of the new team.

The Avengers Currently Only Have Two Actual Members

Captain America: Brave New World Teased The Avengers Being Rebuilt

Sam Wilson in the sunlight in Captain America Brave New World

Captain America: Brave New World saw President Thaddeus Ross almost enlist the help of Sam Wilson’s Captain America to rebuild the Avengers under the command of the United States government. This didn’t come to pᴀss, but the seed has indeed been planted in Wilson’s mind to bring the Avengers back together, and his first recruit in Brave New World was Joaquín Torres, the new Falcon. Marvel announced both Anthony Mackie and Danny Ramirez for Avengers: Doomsday, implying they’ll be the official first two members of the new Avengers team, but the others haven’t been confirmed.

Marvel Studios’ lengthy Avengers: Doomsday announcement has confirmed that Chris Hemsworth, Paul Rudd, Leтιтia Wright, Winston Duke and Simu Liu, among others, will return in the Phase 6 movie. This means the new Avengers roster could include the likes of Thor, Ant-Man, Black Panther, M’Baku and Shang-Chi, but it remains to be seen who Sam Wilson will actually recruit. Avengers: Doomsday promises to be packed full of some of the MCU’s and Hollywood’s biggest names, raising excitement for the Russo brothers’ next Marvel Studios installment.
