Hugh Jackman Shares First BTS Look At His New Robin Hood Movie

Hugh Jackman shares the first behind-the-scenes look at The Death of Robin Hood. The Michael Sarnoski-directed film takes a look at the classic character Robin Hood as he grapples with his past life of crime and murder. Jackman takes on the leading outlaw in the film, whose cast also features Jodie Comer, Noah Jupe, Tabitha Smith, Bill Skarsgård, and The White Lotus actor Murray Bartlett. Sarnoski directs, writes, and executive produces the film. Other producers include Alexander Black, Jackman, Aaron Ryder, and Andrew Swett.

Taking to social media, Jackman shares a behind-the-scenes look at The Death of Robin Hood. The first sequence reveals a time-lapse video of Jackman being made into Robin Hood through makeup and hairstyling. The second element features an image of the beautiful Irish countryside, which Jackman references in his post caption, noting “Thank you Ireland!!! Your beauty knows no bounds.” The rest of the post primarily includes other pictures of Ireland’s landscapes. There is also a video of a traditional Irish song being sung.

What This Means For The Death Of Robin Hood

Robin Hood Is Traditionally English

While the post did very little by way of plot reveals for The Death of Robin Hood, it did cement how crucial the Irish setting will be to the film. Jackman himself is Australian, and the traditional Robin Hood character is English, making this new version’s Irish setting a more significant change. Mel Brooks’ Robin Hood: Men In тιԍнтs famously includes a joke about Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves actor Kevin Costner’s accent. There is still a lot unknown about The Death of Robin Hood, so it is possible that the film might not be entirely set in Ireland, but the setting appears to be significant.

The way the post is worded also suggests that The Death of Robin Hood may be fairly far along in its production. Jackman wrote “There is a depth, a camaraderie and a spirit to the entire cast and crew of The Death of Robin Hood. Thank you for this wonderful experience.” It is possible that the “experience” referenced has just started, but either way, enough filming has taken place for Jackman to make such a positive impression. As such, it is conceivable that the movie could get a release date soon.

Our Take On The Robin Hood Behind The Scenes Imagery

Robin Hood’s New Landscapes Will Be Interesting

Traditional versions of Robin Hood have focused more heavily on forest landscapes, so it would be fascinating to see how a change of scenery might influence the plot. The Irish highlands have a lush green setting that could create visual vibrancy for the film, which would make it cinematically alluring. It will be interesting to see how exactly the Irish-set The Death of Robin Hood plot will develop as more information comes out from on set.
