Erbil, Iraq & Kuwait – Iran-backed Arab militias unleashed a furious barrage of drones and rockets against U.S. military installations across Iraq and Kuwait in what they openly declared as “revenge for Khamenei.”
In a coordinated wave of attacks on March 13, 2026, fighters from groups operating under the Islamic Resistance in Iraq banner launched multiple strikes targeting American bases in Erbil and other key locations in northern and central Iraq. At the same time, similar attacks were reported against U.S. positions in Kuwait, including areas near Ali al-Salem Air Base.

Militia spokesmen released statements claiming dozens of drones and rockets were fired in retaliation for the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the ongoing U.S.-Israeli campaign against Tehran. “This is only the beginning of our revenge,” one statement read, vowing to continue targeting American forces as long as operations against Iran persist.
U.S. and coalition air defenses intercepted many of the incoming projectiles, but officials confirmed several impacts and explosions at or near the targeted facilities. Initial reports indicate American and allied personnel suffered casualties, with damage to infrastructure reported at multiple sites. The Pentagon has placed all forces in the region on maximum alert.
This escalation marks a dangerous expansion of the conflict. While the United States and Israel continue precision strikes deep inside Iran, Tehran’s proxy network is striking back aggressively, attempting to bleed American resources and fracture coalition unity across the region.

The attacks come just hours after Iran’s new Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei publicly vowed revenge and urged continued pressure on U.S. bases throughout the Middle East. Militias appear to be answering that call with direct action.
Despite the provocations, U.S. forces remain operationally effective. American commanders have made clear that any attack on U.S. troops will be met with overwhelming and decisive force. “We will defend our personnel and our interests without hesitation,” a senior defense official stated.
These latest strikes reveal the true nature of the Iranian regime’s strategy: using proxy Arab fighters as disposable tools to wage war while hiding behind deniability. But the United States will not be intimidated or distracted.
The blood spilled in these attacks only strengthens American resolve. Every attempt to target U.S. forces will accelerate the pressure on Iran and its terror network until the threat is eliminated.
