The film follows three lighthouse keepers (Gerard Butler, Peter Mullan and Connor Swindells) who work on a remote island in Scotland.
Their quiet routine is interrupted when they find a chest full of gold that plunges them into a spiral of paranoia, greed and violence.
As they grow increasingly distrustful of each other, isolation and tensions lead to an unpredictable outcome.
The real event occurred in 1900, when three lighthouse keepers disappeared without a trace on Flannan Island. Although the causes were never clarified, there is speculation about storms, accidents and even supernatural theories.
