Now You See Me 3 Is Continuing A Weirdly Specific Jesse Eisenberg & Woody Harrelson Trend After Their $125 Million Zombieland Sequel

After appearing in the first two films, Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson are set to return as Danny and Merritt, respectively, in Now You See Me 3, marking a strange pattern for the actors. The upcoming heist thriller is the third installment in the Now You See Me series, following Now You See Me in 2013 and Now You See Me 2 in 2016. Aside from Eisenberg and Harrelson, Now You See Me 3 also brings back original franchise cast members Isla Fisher as Henley Reeves, Dave Franco as Jack Wilder, Mark Ruffalo as Dylan Rhodes, and Morgan Freeman as Thaddeus Bradley.

Now You See Me 3, directed by Ruben Fleischer of Zombieland fame, is scheduled to premiere in theaters on November 14, 2025.

Meanwhile, Ariana Greenblatt and Rosamund Pike are among the new actors joining the Now You See Me universe. Unfortunately, not much is known about Now You See Me 3‘s story, as of the writing of this article. Based on the ending of the first sequel, the upcoming movie may feature the Four Horseman and Dylan having new roles within The Eye. Anything is possible, though, given how much time has pᴀssed since Now You See Me 2‘s release.

Now See You Me 3 Is Yet Another Late Jesse Eisenberg & Woody Harrelson Sequel

The Second Sequel Premieres Almost A Decade After Now You See Me 2

Now You See Me 2 premiered on June 10, 2016. Consequently, when the third Now You See Me film is released in late 2025, more than nine years will have pᴀssed between the two movies. While this time gap is quite large, it’s surprisingly not the first time Eisenberg and Harrelson have worked together on franchises with late sequels, the first being Zombieland.

Eisenberg starred as Columbus and Harrelson played Tallahᴀssee in the popular 2009 post-apocalyptic zombie comedy Zombieland. Nine years later, the two actors reunited for the 2019 sequel, Zombieland: Double Tap. So, Now You See Me 3 is the fifth time Eisenberg and Harrelson have worked together, and funnily enough, it’s the second time they have been a part of a sequel that was nine years in the making.

Why Zombieland 2 And Now You See Me 3 Both Took So Long To Happen

Both Productions Experienced Delays

Although the producers of Now You See Me 2 and Zombieland started working on their respective sequels around the release of their previous films, the movies took almost a decade to actually come to fruition. They both experienced delays, with Zombieland: Double Tap‘s script starting as a rejected TV pilot. As for Now You See Me 3‘s long wait, script rewrites, scheduling conflicts, and the COVID-19 pandemic all played a part in its delay (per Parade).
