Anne Hathaway’s Upcoming Sci-Fi Movie Release Delayed By 5 Months

The release date for an upcoming Anne Hathaway science-fiction movie has been delayed by five months. For more than two decades, Hathaway has been a leading star in Hollywood. She first gained recognition for her role as Mia Thermopolis in 2001’s The Princess Diaries, and she reprised the character three years later in The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement. Her stardom continued to expand with leading roles in Ella Enchanted, The Devil Wears Prada, and Rachel Getting Married.

Several of Hathaway’s best movies came in the following decade, particularly her Academy Award-winning performance as Fantine in Les Misérables and as Dr. Amelia Brand in Christopher Nolan’s science-fiction epic Interstellar. More recently, Hathaway played art gallery owner Solène Marchand in The Idea of You, which sees her character in a romantic relationship with a popstar. From reuniting Nolan for his star-studded take on The Odyssey to the long-awaited The Princess Diaries 3, Hathaway has many upcoming movies in the works, including an original science-fiction film that has now been delayed.

Flowervale Street Has Been Delayed

The Movie Also Stars Ewan McGregor

Flowervale Street has had its theatrical release pushed back. In addition to Hathaway, Flowervale Street‘s cast includes Ewan McGregor, Maisy Stella, Christian Convery, P.J. Byrne, Jordan Alexa Davis, and Chris Coy. It is directed and written by David Robert Mitchell, who previously directed and wrote the critically acclaimed horror film It Follows. Plot details remain under wraps, although Hathaway shared in June 2024 that production, which took place in Georgia, had been completed.

As per Warner Bros., Flowervale Street‘s theatrical debut has been pushed from March 13, 2026 to August 14, 2026. This includes a release in IMAX theaters. The release change is one of several announced by Warner Bros., with The Cat in the Hat, The Bride!, Weapons, and a previously unтιтled Paul Thomas Anderson movie, now тιтled One Battle After Another, shifting release dates as well.

Our Take On Flowervale Street’s Release Date Change

There Is No Cause For Concern

Anne Hathaway as Mia smiling with a hand to her chin in The Princess Diaries 2

While release date changes can sometimes be a cause for concern, this does not appear to be the case for Flowervale Street. The change is simply part of Warner Bros. shifting their overall 2025 and 2026 theatrical release schedules and has not altered my anticipation for the upcoming movie. Hathaway and McGregor consistently demonstrate their impressive range across numerous genres, and I am excited to see the characters they will be playing in an original science-fiction story. I also look forward to seeing Convery, who has recently shown his talents in The Monkey and in Invincible season 3.
