Sirens First Images Reveal Julianne Moore, Meghann Fahy & Kevin Bacon In Netflix’s New Dark Comedy Show

Netflix’s new dark comedy Sirens receives a release date and unveils first-look images. Based on the 2011 play “Elemeno Pea” by Molly Smith Metzler, the upcoming limited series is fronted by Julianne Moore (Mary & George), Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus), Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon), and Kevin Bacon (MaXXXine). Set over the Labor Day weekend, Devon (Fahy) arrives on a seemingly lavish island occupied by mansions and hydrangeas to reconnect with her younger sister Simone (Alcock) but soon begins to notice the eerie signs in Simone’s relationship with her new boss, Michaela Kell (Moore).

Netflix shares first-look images of Sirens, confirming the release date of the new show. The images offer a glimpse at Moore’s socialite as an animal activist, philanthropist, and wife of a billionaire, who lives a completely different life from Devon. She is seen talking to a gardener, who gestures to her to keep what has been discussed between them. Meanwhile, the images also showcase Simone’s work uniform. The new series is expected to arrive on May 22. Check out the images below:

What This Means For Sirens

Sirens Follows Devon’s Journey Into The Life Of The Kells

The first images capture the dynamics and vast differences between the characters. While talking to Netflix, show creator Smith Metzler teases that Sirenshas a lot of teeth” with “real moments of drama and reveals that Devon is the character who brings in the comedy as she begins to explore the island. However, the decision to cast Moore as the socialite was largely due to the actor’s ability to bring a sense of ethereality into her character. As seen in the first-look image, Michaela Kell seems to be living in her own The White Lotus-like paradise.

Not only do the images capture Michaela’s work as an animal activist, but they also see her in a moment of personal highlight as she gives a speech in a white gown. Her billionaire husband, Peter Kell (Bacon), who is the most important person in every room, shares the same social status. Meanwhile, Simone, who works as Michaela’s ᴀssistant, is dressed up in a cartoonish fashion. It seems that Devon is the only person there who looks real. The first-look images hint at a sense of suspense underneath the seemingly perfect island high society.

Our Take On Sirens

It’s Full Of Intrigues

Sirens‘ characters and cast list already do a great job at teasing the drama, tension, and secret that’s about to hit Netflix in May. From Simone’s strangely close relationship with Michaela to her cult-like admiration for the socialite to Devon’s attempt to rescue her sister, there’s a lot of mystery to unfold as to what is going on between Devon’s sister and the Kells. Following Alcock’s House of the Dragon critically acclaimed performance as young Rhaenyra Targaryen, Simone could be a fascinating role for those who are interested in the actor’s work.

Meanwhile, Devon isn’t without a colorful past. She has been on a downward spiral, and what time on the island will do to her is something that viewers will have to wait until the show arrives to find out. What’s most interesting about Sirens is that while Peter Kell is the one with money, the women are at the forefront. Michaela is all charming and graceful in the first-look images, but what Devon will discover if she takes a deeper look underneath the surface is an interesting question. From the creative minds behind the hit Netflix series Maid, the upcoming dark comedy is something to look forward to.
