The Odyssey Set PH๏τo Reveals Jon Bernthal’s Very Different New Look In Christopher Nolan’s Greek Epic

A set pH๏τo from The Odyssey reveals Jon Bernthal’s very different look in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming project. The movie, an adaptation of Homer’s Greek epic, depicts Odysseus (Matt Damon) after the Trojan War and explores his momentous voyage to return home. Along with Damon and Bernthal, whose role is unknown, the ensemble cast includes Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, and more. With production on The Odyssey commenced, various pH๏τos of sets and on-screen talent have emerged.

An image from @ChrisNolanMedia was recently uploaded to X and shows what Bernthal will look like in The Odyssey. In the pH๏τo, he is standing next to Holland, shaking hands with unidentified people, and has a noticeably shaved head and full beard. Both actors don armor, but Bernthal has more brown-colored clothing underneath, while Holland is wearing white.

What This Latest Set PH๏τo Means For The Odyssey

It Remains Unclear Who Bernthal Will Be Playing

Not much is known about The Odyssey, apart from Damon being cast as Odysseus. However, theories surrounding Holland and other actors have been swirling for a while. Based on the latest set pH๏τo, predicting who Bernthal is playing may be hard, especially considering how many characters are in The Odyssey. It has been speculated that Holland is portraying Telemachus, but Bernthal, known for his role in Daredevil and The Punisher, could potentially appear as one of the men aiding Odysseus’s son, including Menelaus or Nestor.

There are numerous suitors intent on marrying Penelope in The Odyssey, among them being the antagonistic Antinous, whom Bernthal could play as well. Given what he is seen wearing in the picture and how closely it resembles combat gear, it seems less likely that he would portray a Greek god, including Poseidon or Zeus, who appear in the original story. Because so much of the movie has been kept under wraps, it may be some time before every role is revealed, but Bernthal’s previous work demonstrates that he can play a range of characters.

Our Take On The Odyssey Set PH๏τo

The Movie May Be Less Stylized In Approach

Matt Damon as Odysseus in The Odyssey

While it’s unknown who most of the cast will play, the pictures suggest that Nolan’s upcoming film, following the Oscar-winning Oppenheimer, may not be overly stylized. Since the image of Bernthal and other set pH๏τos came out, some audiences have expressed disappointment with the costuming, but these are only small peeks, so it will be interesting to see how everything appears in the finished product. Nolan has a strong track record when it comes to creating visually impressive movies, and a lot of The Odyssey has yet to be filmed or teased via set pH๏τos.
