Colleen Hoover’s Next Star-Studded Movie Adaptation Regretting You Casts Reacher Star

The star-studded movie adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Regretting You adds a cast member from Reacher. The author, largely known for It Ends with Us, is an executive producer on the drama film, directed by Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars). Regretting You explores the strained connection between Morgan and her daughter, Clara, when tragedy affects their family. The movie was announced around It Ends with Us, which became a commercial success but has been hindered by conflict surrounding Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.

According to ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, Willa Fitzgerald has been cast in the Regretting You adaptation. The star, who portrayed Roscoe Conklin in Reacher season 1, will appear alongside the previously confirmed Allison Williams, Mckenna Grace, Dave Franco, and Mason Thames. It was not revealed who Fitzgerald is playing.

What This Casting Means For Regretting You

The Movie Is Coming Together

Since its announcement, there has been anticipation for Regretting You and other Hoover adaptations, with her novel-to-movie trend continuing. The film already boasts recognizable talent, especially Grace and Thames, of the Ghostbusters franchise and the upcoming live-action How to Train Your Dragon, respectively. The two actors were revealed to be playing Clara and Miller, while Williams takes on the leading role of Morgan and Franco portrays Jonah. Overall, it seems the core cast has been formed, but there are some unknowns surrounding Jenny, a character Fitzgerald could possibly play, and Chris.

The addition of Fitzgerald in Regretting You is particularly exciting, coming off the movie, Strange Darling. In the film, she played “the Electric Lady,” and because events were told out of order, the reveals of her character and story were a surprise. Along with that and her role as Roscoe in Reacher, Fitzgerald formerly appeared in Scream: The TV Series and as Madeline Usher’s younger counterpart in Mike Flanagan’s The Fall of the House of Usher, earning a Critics’ Choice Awards nomination for the latter.

It Could Lead To Another Successful Adaptation

ᴀssembling a talented and well-known cast that can potentially draw a wider audience may prove beneficial to Regretting You. Given how successful the 2019 novel is, a theatrical release of the movie could yield box office numbers comparable to It Ends with Us, which generated around $351 million globally during its run. With filming updates likely on the way, anticipation for Regretting You should only increase, and it’ll be interesting to see what this next adaptation looks like when all the characters are brought to life.
