Brad Pitt Races For Glory & Clashes With A Young Driver In Full Action-Packed F1 Trailer

A brand-new trailer showcases the high-octane action from F1. The movie, which was made with the cooperation of the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile, stars Brad Pitt as retired Formula One driver Sonny Hayes, who ends up back on the racetrack after a terrifying crash when he is called upon to advise the new H๏τsH๏τ driver Joshua “Noah” Pearce (Damson Idris). The ensemble cast fleshing out the world around the F1 story includes Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Shea Whigham, Joseph Balderrama, and real-life racers including producer Lewis Hamilton.

Warner Bros. has now unveiled a new official trailer for F1. The trailer opens with Bardem’s character, APXGP team owner Ruben, breaking down how Sonny is “the best that never was,” highlighting how far he has fallen by pointing out that he is a gambling addict and lives in a van. However, he ends his speech with a note of hope, as he asks Sonny to join his team anyway. This kicks off a series of scenes where Sonny clashes with Noah both on and off the track, interspersed with high-octane racing footage. Watch the trailer below:

What The F1 Trailer Means

Character And Action Are Equally Important

Previous promotional efforts have largely focused on the realism of Brad Pitt’s F1 driving, which was rendered as believable as possible by putting the star behind the wheel of a race car driving at 1980 miles per hour, on a real Formula One race track, in front of a real crowd that was already gathered for a race. This is a key element of the movie, especially coming in the wake of the realistic flying seen in director Joseph Kosinski’s previous movie Top Gun: Maverick, but this new trailer also spotlights the importance of the other characters surrounding Sonny Hayes.

Top Gun: Maverick was a smash hit, grossing $1.496 billion against its roughly $170 million budget and later winning an Oscar for Best Sound.

In addition to Noah, the key characters in the movie include Ruben and Kerry Condon’s Kate, who is the technical director for the team. This trailer spends much more time fleshing out the trio, showcasing the way that the F1 story blends the high-octane world of the racetrack with the human-level drama behind the scenes, which can frequently have stakes that are just as high.

Our Take On The F1 Trailer

It Hints At The Movie’s Larger Story

The newest trailer for F1 has offered the broadest look yet at how the story will shape up. Because it is not directly based on a true story, even though it features real-life Formula One drivers including producer Lewis Hamilton, there is no telling exactly how the story will end. However, it seems highly likely that the outcome of the championship will have huge consequences for both Sonny and Noah, testing the limits of their already tenuous bond.
