“I Really Wish”: 2015 Fantastic Four Star Kate Mara Addresses Potential MCU Multiverse Role For Her Sue Storm As Marvel’s Reboot Approaches

Kate Mara addresses the possibility of reprising her version of Sue Storm in the Marvel Cinematic Universe following 2015’s Fantastic Four movie. After being gone from the big screen for nearly a decade, The Fantastic Four: First Steps cast is set to bring back Marvel’s First Family to cinema in Phase 6. But as the Fantastic Four characters get ready to enter the MCU, stars from the short-lived version in 2015 have started chiming in about Marvel Studios’ upcoming reboot.

In a new interview with CBR, Mara, who had a short stint in the comic book movie genre as Invisible Woman in Fantastic Four from 2015, was asked if there have ever been any conversations about coming back as Sue through the multiverse concept. For the time being, it appears no one has approached the Fantastic Four actors about popping up in the MCU, as Mara stated, “God, I really wish that we were approached,” while also adding the following:

I’m just excited for my kids to get older, so that they can watch the Fantastic Four movie that me and Jamie [Bell] made, because they can see their parents in it. That’s pretty cool.

What Kate Mara’s Fantastic Four Comments Mean For The MCU

After a long development process, 2015’s Fantastic Four movie became not just a box office bomb for 20th Century Fox, but also one of the most critically-panned superhero films of all time. However, this had very little to do with the cast, and more so with the execution of the story and approach that was explored in Fantastic Four. While becoming another bomb for the Fox-Marvel run, the MCU has found ways to honor that era in The Multiverse Saga thus far while also giving actors a bigger chance to shine, opening the chance for the cast to return in upcoming MCU releases.

In the case of 2015’s Fantastic Four, Mara has made it clear that she would love another sH๏τ at playing Sue again, even if that would likely be in a different capacity. With Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, the doors will be more open than ever for Marvel Studios to really tap into the multiverse, which would allow Mara and her fellow Fantastic Four co-stars to appear at least one more time and have a better spotlight than their 2015 film. Whether or not it is something Marvel Studios is considering for Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars remains to be seen for the time being.

Our Take On Kate Mara’s Fantastic Four Comments

From her latest comments, it would be fun to see Marvel Studios work out a scenario for Mara and the rest of the Fantastic Four actors to appear in Phase 6. After hearing Mara’s reaction to The Fantastic Four: First Steps, it would also be incredible to see the two groups get to share the screen in any capacity. Hopefully, Mara’s MCU comments will potentially lead to her version of Sue and the Fantastic Four appearing at some point in The Multiverse Saga before everything is said and done.
