Star Wars Just Confirmed A Major Mandalorian Return In The Next Movie

Star Wars just confirmed a major return from The Mandalorian in the franchise’s next movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu. The Mandalorian and Grogu is confirmed to be the next release of Star Wars’ upcoming movies, and it’s currently the only one with a release date—May 22, 2026. Because of that, and no doubt because The Mandalorian is one of Star Wars’ best TV shows, there’s been plenty of speculation about who (or what) could be returning in The Mandalorian and Grogu.

Details about The Mandalorian and Grogu have been kept pretty firmly under wraps, which is standard for Star Wars. Obviously, the тιтular characters Din Djarin and Grogu will be back, but few other returns have been confirmed. However, one major Mandalorian return has been confirmed in The Mandalorian and Grogu, and you may have missed it.

Smuggler’s Run Just Confirmed Din Djarin Is Back In (A) Razor Crest

This Iconic Ship Is Finally Coming Back

Smuggler’s Run, a popular Star Wars ride in Disney theme parks, has seemingly just confirmed that the Razor Crest is coming back in The Mandalorian and Grogu. This iconic ship was seen throughout The Mandalorian until Din Djarin swapped it out for the sleeker N-1 starfighter. Based on the ship’s appearance in some updates to this ride, though, all signs point to Din Djarin going back to basics with the Razor Crest.

Disney’s official Instagram account posted a video of Din Djarin and Grogu looking at the Millennium Falcon in Disney World, which is situated just outside the Smuggler’s Run ride. In conjunction with that post, at SXSW 2025, a tie-in between The Mandalorian and Grogu and Galaxy’s Edge was confirmed. At that panel, тιтled “The Future of World-Building at Disney,” concept art for the Smuggler’s Run update was also shown that depicted the Razor Crest once again.

This Smuggler’s Run update releases on May 22, 2026, the same day The Mandalorian and Grogu does.

Why Star Wars Has Brought Back The Razor Crest

The Razor Crest Just Fits Din Djarin So Much Better

The N-1 Starfighter was sleek and beautiful, but it just wasn’t a dad ship—and Din Djarin is officially a dad now. After The Mandalorian season 3 ending, Din Djarin has formally adopted Grogu, and the final episode confirmed a more domestic shift for Din and Grogu (even as Din offered to work with the New Republic), as the episode ended with Din Djarin and Grogu at home. Surely, they will get up to plenty of trouble in The Mandalorian and Grogu, but this change just makes the Razor Crest the right ship for them.

I am so thrilled to see the Razor Crest is coming back, and I’m particularly excited about what this may mean for Din Djarin and Grogu’s upcoming story. These two have become some of the most beloved characters in Star Wars for a reason. Their familial ties have been so touching to watch, and it will be wonderful to see the father-son duo in a full-fledged movie. I couldn’t be more excited about the confirmation that the Razor Crest is returning in The Mandalorian and Grogu.
