Talks have begun between the Marvel Cinematic Universe‘s new Mister Fantastic and Doctor Doom. Pedro Pascal is playing the role of Mister Fantastic in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, while Robert Downey Jr. is playing Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday. Pascal’s Mister Fantastic and the other members of the Fantastic Four will also be part of Avengers: Doomsday‘s cast as they help take on the formidable villain and the threat he poses to the entire multiverse.
While speaking with ScreenRant‘s Liam Crowley at SXSW during an interview for The Last of Us season 2, Pascal revealed that he and Downey have been texting, with the Doctor Doom star most recently sharing a selfie. Pascal discussed how he often reveals secrets that he is not supposed to share, including to Uber drivers, which led to him sharing details of his recent communication with Downey. The Relationship Between Mister Fantastic And Doctor Doom Is Already Forming
With First Steps and Avengers: Doomsday being two of the MCU’s biggest upcoming releases, it is significant that Pascal and Downey have already started talking to each other. Their MCU debuts remain highly anticipated despite there being multiple actors who have played Mister Fantastic and Doctor Doom in live-action before. The relationship between Mister Fantastic and Doctor Doom is integral to both characters’ stories, which makes it all the more important that the actors are developing their own relationship.
An Avengers: Doomsday filming update reported that production would start in March, meaning that Pascal and Downey may soon be doing more than texting as they film scenes with Mister Fantastic and Doctor Doom together. With the film being an integral chapter in the Multiverse Saga, there is endless potential for the directions their characters can go in, along with the number of variants that may be introduced. Pascal and Downey may end up playing more than one version of their characters.
