Two new stars have joined Robert De Niro in The Whisper Man. The upcoming Netflix feature, which adapts the novel of the same name by Alex North, follows a man whose 8-year-old son is abducted, forcing him to work with his estranged father as they track down the culprit, who may be an accomplice of the town’s storied serial killer, The Whisper Man. The Robert De Niro movie is being written by Ben Jacoby (The First Omen) and Chase Palmer (2017’s It) and has director James Ashcroft (The Rule of Jenny Pen) attached.
Per ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, Adam Scott and Michelle Monaghan have joined the cast of The Whisper Man. So far, the characters that they will be playing are unknown, as is De Niro’s character. However, given their relative ages, it seems possible that Scott could play the man on the hunt for his missing son, while De Niro plays his father. However, Scott could be playing detective Pete Willis, who also has an important role in the story, while De Niro plays the imprisoned Whisper Man. Additionally, Monaghan may have been tapped to play Willis’ fellow detective Amanda Beck.
What This Means For The Whisper Man
Both Incoming Stars Have Ample Experience
Zero Day, which also features Lizzy Caplan, Jesse Plemons, Joan Allen, Connie Britton, Dan Stevens, Angela Bᴀssett, and Matthew Modine, stars De Niro as a former president who is in charge of investigating a ᴅᴇᴀᴅly cyberattack.
Although Adam Scott is likely best known for his roles in comedies including Parks and Recreation and Party Down, he has dabbled in many other genres, especially since he appeared opposite Reese Witherspoon in the star-studded cast of the HBO drama Big Little Lies. His recent appearances in The Monkey and Ghostwriter have likely prepared him well for the new movie, as has his role in the Severance cast, leading the twisty Apple TV+ sci-fi thriller.
