Marvel’s New Thunderbolts* Trailer Makes It Look Unlike Anything The MCU Has Released Before And I’m Totally Digging It

Marvel’s new Thunderbolts* trailer builds anticipation for the Phase 5 movie with an editing style never used in an MCU project before. As Marvel Studios’ 2025 slate moves forward with the release of Captain America: Brave New World, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, and Daredevil: Born Again, the wait for Jake Schreier’s Thunderbolts* shortens, and new promotional material drops new hints at its twists and reveals. Previous trailers and spots have confirmed that Sentry will attack New York in Thunderbolts*, and that Valentina Allegra de Fontaine wants the Thunderbolts to be the world’s Avengers replacement.

On X, the official Letterboxdx account released a new official Thunderbolts* trailer. Scored to Gesaffelstein’s “Opr” and taking inspiration from A24’s trailer editing style, Marvel Studios’ new Thunderbolts* trailer focuses on the talent behind the MCU movie, highlighting the high-profile projects everyone involved has worked on. The new Thunderbolts* trailer mentions Sebastian Stan’s A Different Man, Jake Schreier’s Beef, and cinematographer Andrew Droz Palermo’s work on The Green Knight, among others. Notably, the new Thunderbolts* trailer also reveals new sH๏τs that leave more questions than answers, including one where Yelena Belova is attacked by a clone of herself and one where Bucky Barnes punches someone who’s wearing a chicken costume. What The New Thunderbolts* Trailer Means

Thunderbolts* Promises To Be Very Character-Focused

The new Thunderbolts* trailer places special emphasis on Thunderbolts*‘ cast and crew, as well as on the most extravagant aspects of its plot. The trailer’s focus on the talent’s body of work is unprecedented. Normally, movie trailers follow a template along the lines of “from the director of (movie) or “from the studio who brought you…”, but rarely do they list movies without specific names attached to them. Clearly, the new trailer intends to help Thunderbolts* stand apart from other MCU projects by adding an air of prestige to its marketing. The fact that all movies mentioned in the Thunderbolts* trailer are A24 тιтles is the cherry on top.

The Thunderbolts* trailer features pretty little action. Instead, it teases the main character’s most dramatic moments and some scenes that may only make sense to audiences when Thunderbolts* hits theaters in May 2025. Yelena Belova’s clone, the person in the chicken costume, and the ghost-like enтιтy in the new Thunderbolts* trailer support the theory that Bob will not only transform into the powerful Sentry, but will also let out Sentry’s darker alter ego — the Void, which may possess paranormal abilities that mess with the Thunderbolts’ perception of reality.

Our Take On The New Thunderbolts* Trailer

Thunderbolts* Is Trying New Things For Marvel

Marvel’s approach to the new Thunderbolts* trailer provides the upcoming movie with a fresh spin on its marketing. The new trailer is only one of many, but it proves that superhero blockbusters can still try new things at this point. It also suggests that Lewis Pullman’s Sentry will be an antagonist like no other, and poses the question of how the Thunderbolts could possibly defeat a villain as creatively powerful as Sentry and his darker half.
