Penn Cole’s Spark Of The Everflame Book 4 Update Is A Huge Relief After Worrying Release Plan Rumors

The Kindred’s Curse series, a popular fantasy romance by Penn Cole, is seemingly getting its fourth and final book sometime later this year. The first novel, Spark of the Everflame, was published in March 2023, with two sequels, Glow of the Everflame and Heat of the Everflame, quickly released later that same year. Cole’s romantasy books have since become one of Booktok’s most popular series, following Diem, a mortal living in the land ruled by the Descended — the offspring of the gods. But the long wait for the final novel has proved difficult for many fans.

However, Cole’s latest comments from Powell’s book tour stop in Oregon have given fans hope that the final sequel, Burn of the Everflame, will in fact be released in 2025 (via TikTok). When asked when readers could expect the fourth novel in the series, Cole stated that while there’s no official timeline she could share at this point, they do “have a date internally that [they] are working towards” — and it is in 2025. After such a long delay, Cole’s comments are a huge relief for fans of the series, especially when the third novel left readers on a mᴀssive cliffhanger.

Just Knowing The Publisher Is Moving Forward Is Promising

Penn Cole quickly released the first three novels in the Kindred’s Curse series in 2023, but once the author was picked up by a traditional publisher, the fourth book’s release timeline became more uncertain. Originally, Burn of the Everflame was set to release in March 2024, but that date was later scrapped, and the project has been delayed ever since. Cole has been reluctant to share more about the fourth book’s timeline, especially when there are several moving parts that could further delay the book.

This itself is reᴀssuring, as Cole has stated she wouldn’t make any further comments on the book’s release date until she knew it was certain.

However, Cole’s latest comments are the most promising yet and make for the first time she’s committed to sharing a “rough” timeline on the projects’ release in over a year. This itself is reᴀssuring, as Cole has stated she wouldn’t make any further comments on the book’s release date until she knew it was certain, likely to avoid disappointing any fans. While she hasn’t given her readers an exact date as to when they can expect the final novel, it’s enough to know that the wait is very soon coming to an end.

Rumors Suggested A Much Longer Wait For Spark Of The Everflame Book 4

Cole’s Comments Reaffirm The Book’s 2025 Release

Due to the long wait time between book releases, rumors have been circulating regarding when the fourth book will be published. While some speculated the book would release as early as February 2025, others suggested Burn of the Everflame wouldn’t hit shelves until the summer of 2026 — and Google and Goodreads still have this listed as the novel’s release date (at the time of writing). Thankfully, this is a wild rumor that Cole herself addresses on her book tour, and states that the late 2026 date is “so wrong,” and reaffirms that no official publication date has been announced.

“I know if you google it, there’s some answer…and it’s so wrong. It’s like 2027 or something crazy. That’s not true, there has been no date announced.”

However, it has also been rumored that Cole and her team will announce an official date after the re-release of Heat of the Everflame on March 11, 2025, for which the novel will receive a hardback edition, as shared via Cole’s Instagram. It’s also been suggested on Reddit that the novel could release in the fall, given the that Fantasy Fangirls Podcast seems to have worked closely with Cole to schedule a deep dive of the Kindred’s Curse series, set to kick off this April. Both are plausible, but until Cole confirms for herself, the release of the anticipated fantasy novel will remain uncertain.
