Ready or Not 2 will feature a second Radio Silence reunion. Radio Silence is a filmmaking collective that was created by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett, Justin Martinez, and Chad Villella, who have collaborated in various combinations on a variety of projects, largely in the horror genre, which include the movies Scream (2022), Ready or Not, and Devil’s Due. The upcoming Ready or Not 2 sees directors Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett returning to helm a new story starring Samara Weaving, who played the hunted bride Grace in the original hide-and-seek horror movie. Villella is also on board as an executive producer.

Per ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, Kathryn Newton has been cast in an as-yet unknown role in Ready or Not 2. This marks her second collaboration with Radio Silence after playing the hacker Sammy in their 2024 vampire horror-comedy Abigail. Although the size of her role is unknown, the fact that she is the first new cast member announced likely implies that she will be one of the main characters of the horror-comedy sequel, which has been officially in development since October 2024.

Another Scream Queen Has Joined The Cast

Ready or Not 2 already has a major modern scream queen in the lead role, as there have been a number of Samara Weaving horror movies in the past. In addition to the original Ready or Not, this includes The Babysitter, its sequel The Babysitter: Killer Queen, Mayhem, and Azrael. She has also previously reunited with Radio Silence when she made a cameo as a college professor in the opening sequence of 2023’s Scream VI.

Although Kathryn Newton is known for roles in non-horror тιтles, including playing Cᴀssie Lang in the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania cast, she comes to the sequel with a body of work in the horror genre that is nearly as robust as Weaving’s. Her first major foray into the genre came when she appeared in the 2012 sequel Paranormal Activity 4, a role which she followed by starring in the body-swap slasher Freaky and the Diablo Cody horror-comedy Lisa Frankenstein, in addition to her role in Abigail.

It Could Offer Insight Into The Plot

So far, details about the plot of Ready or Not 2 are being kept тιԍнтly under wraps. While it will probably feature another killer hide-and-seek game, the explosive ending of the original Radio Silence movie would seem to prevent the original villains from returning. However, Newton’s casting could offer some insight into the overall storyline. Given her age, it is possible that she could be playing Samara Weaving’s younger sister, whose wedding could be the site of another bloody adventure.
