Russo Brothers Give Updates On Avengers: Doomsday & Avengers: Secret Wars Runtimes & Casting News

Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars receive some exciting updates ahead of principal pH๏τography of the two Marvel Cinematic Universe installments. The Multiverse Saga is nearing its end, with Phase 6 set to kick off later this year, the MCU is getting closer to finally having not one, but two Avengers movies in the next few years. As Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars will see the return of Joe and Anthony Russo as the directors, many fans are eagerly waiting to learn as much as possible about their Phase 6 films.

In a new interview with Collider, the Russo brothers were asked about some updates for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, with the first film getting closer to starting production this spring. When asked about when fans can expect more casting news, Joe Russo kept things cryptic by teasing, Never. Not until you go to the theater. The runtime for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars were also brought up, as Joe Russo said, “If I were a betting man, I would say the first one is two and a half, and the second one’s three hours.” As far as being worried about set pH๏τos, the Russo brothers explained how they are taking a lot of precautions, stating the following:

Joe Russo: We’re pretty good about shutting that down.

Anthony Russo: We’ve sort of strategized to hopefully be effective with that.

Joe Russo: [We will be] doing quite a bit of that. We don’t want people getting pH๏τographs, so we are being pretty stringent.

Anthony Russo: The location work we are doing, we have picked those locations with that in mind, as well.

What The Russo Brothers’ Avengers: Doomsday & Avengers: Secret Wars Comments Mean For The MCU Movies

Given the mᴀssive scope of Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars, it makes a lot of sense why Marvel Studios and the Russo brothers are raising the bar as much as they are for these two movies. From Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom coming in to serve as the big bad of The Multiverse Saga to the rumored soft reboot of the MCU, the stakes are higher than ever. With the potential of some major returns for what will be the MCU’s biggest storyline of all time, this will definitely be something that Marvel Studios doesn’t want to see get leaked or spoiled in advance.

Naturally, there are bound to be reports from trades in the next few months about potential MCU veterans who will be back for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Marvel Studios will likely not formally announce their returns for the MCU timeline, despite the fact that various universes are bound to be affected in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. The same goes for the runtime for the respective films, which is likely why Joe Russo was as careful as he was with his update.
