Russell Crowe’s Star-Studded Action Thriller Adds Breaking Bad & Fast & Furious Stars

Russell Crowe’s star-studded action-thriller, Bear Country, adds Breaking Bad and Fast & Furious stars. Helmed by Derrick Borte, who previously directed Crowe on 2020’s Unhinged, the upcoming action thriller is an adaptation of the novel Strip by Thomas Perry and follows an aging club owner named Manco Kapak who is robbed, jeopardizing his plans for retirement as cartel bosses close in and someone poses as a potential buyer. Crowe stars in the lead role alongside a cast that already includes The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev, Kartiah Vergara, and Teresa Palmer.

Now, Russell Crowe’s action-thriller is rounding out its cast. According to ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Luke Evans (Fast & Furious 6), and Daniel Zovatto are the latest to join Russell Crowe in the cast of Bear Country. The movie is currently shooting in Australia, Crowe’s home country, in the state of Queensland.

What Aaron Paul & Luke Evans Joining Bear Country Means For The Movie

Who Are They Playing?

The casting announcement also comes with much information about the characters they will be playing in Bear Country. Aaron Paul is playing an unᴀssuming community college teacher named Jeff who unwittingly becomes involved in a corrupt cop’s plot to rob Manco Kapak’s club. Luke Evans is taking on the role of an undercover federal agent, Joe Carver, who poses as a potential buyer for Kapak’s club, attempting to infiltrate the cartel he launders money for. Daniel Zovatto plays the cartel’s top operative in Los Angeles, Rodriguez.

Aaron Paul and Luke Evans are certainly star-studded additions to the cast of Bear Country. The former won three Emmy Awards for his portrayal of Jesse Pinkman, a stoner turned meth cook, in Breaking Bad, which is widely considered one of the greatest television series of all time. Luke Evans is no stranger to the action genre, having starred as Owen Shaw in Fast & Furious 6, but also played Bard the Bowman in The Hobbit trilogy and Gaston in the live-action Beauty and the Beast.

Our Take On Aaron Paul & Luke Evans Joining Bear Country

What They Will Bring To The Action Thriller

Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) crying, laughing, and smiling in his last scene in Breaking Bad

Aaron Paul’s casting as an unᴀssuming community college teacher should bring an everyman reliability to Bear Country, which should make his descent into danger all the more compelling. His ability to convey desperation and intensity, as seen in Breaking Bad, makes him a perfect fit for an unwitting pawn in a criminal scheme. Meanwhile, Luke Evans’ suave and commanding screen presence should make Joe Carver a formidable undercover agent. With their talent and experience, Aaron Paul and Luke Evans should add some depth to Bear Country, promising a tense and entertaining action thriller.
