Descendants 5 Adds Four New Characters, Including The Sons Of Robin Hood & Dr. Facilier

Descendants 5 has added four new roles to its cast list, including the characters of Robbie Hood and Felix Facilier. The movie is the fourth sequel to the successful Disney fantasy musical franchise, and a direct sequel to 2024’s record-breaking spinoff Descendants: The Rise of Red. The movie is set to pick up from the end of The Rise of Red, and will focus on the consequences of time travel. Kylie Cantrall and Malia Baker will reprise their roles as Red and Chloe Charming, respectively.

Per ᴅᴇᴀᴅline, the upcoming Descendants 5 has also cast Joel Oulette, Zavien Garrett, Ryan McEwan, and Dayton Paradis in key roles. Oulette will play Robbie Hood, the son of Robin Hood. Garrett will portray Felix, son of The Princess and Frog‘s Dr. Facilier, while McEwan and Paradis will play the twin sons of Peter Pan villain Smee, Squirmy and Squeaky. Kimmy Gatewood will direct from a script by Tamara Chestna, Dan Frey, and Ru Sommer, while Suzanne Todd and Gary Marsh return as executive producers.

What This Means For Descendants 5

The Fifth Installment Looks Set To Be More Expansive

The Descendants trilogy brought together ensemble casts in a way that worked on many levels, and these latest additions can bring a new scope to the fantasy universe. The new quartet brings a freshness to the franchise, and they will be joined by Leonardo Nam, who will return as the Mad Hatter’s son Maddox. Previously announced newcomers to the franchise include Liamani Segura, Brendon Tremblay, Alexandro Byrd, and Kiara Romero.

The original trilogy followed the adventures of characters like Mal (Dove Cameron), Evie (Sofia Carson, and Ben (Mitchell Hope), who were said to be off on an adventure in The Rise of Red.

The movies have done a good job so far of bringing together the teenage children of some of Disney’s most iconic villains, but there is the feeling that the initial installments may have run their course. The original trilogy of movies came to a logical conclusion, but the Rise of Red spinoff reinvigorated the franchise, and this casting news for Descendants 5 could hint at a more expansive installment. Including nods to Peter Pan and Robin Hood could also lead to new realms and settings.

Our Take On Descendants 5

The Franchise Shows No Signs Of Slowing Down

With its casting choices, Descendants 5 has expanded the family units of the existing characters and added some new groups as well. The movie seems to be going a bit deeper into the Alice in Wonderland mythology with the inclusion of the Mad Hatter’s family and Red’s sister, who will be played by Segura. This will allow the film to continue carving out a brand new space within the broader world. It is unlikely that Descendants 5 will be the final film in the series, and if it is a success, there could well be future installments to come.
