Why Was Margaret Qualley In The Oscars’ James Bond Tribute – Is She Going To Be In A 007 Movie?

Margaret Qualley appeared as part of a James Bond tribute in the Oscars 2025. The 97th Academy Awards took the opportunity to reminisce on the franchise’s illustrious history with musical performances and clips showcasing over 60 years of memories. The actress who is part of Best Picture nominee The Substance made a surprise appearance as part of awkwardly timed James Bond tribute, dancing alongside a group of male performers dressed in Bond’s usual style. This included Margaret Qualley dancing while Lisa sang “Live and Let Die” between Oscars 2025 winner announcements.

The appearance of Qualley in a James Bond tribute is surprising on several levels. While the James Bong tribute singers were not the original performers for the respective movies, having a star of Qualley’s caliber appear suggests that she is tied to the franchise in a legitimate way. That’s notable considering the James Bond franchise is in the middle of a reset following Amazon MGM gaining creative control from longtime producer Barbara Broccoli. However, The Substance‘s star has never appeared in the series – so is that about to change?

Margaret Qualley Is Not Confirmed To Be In The Next James Bond Movie

Her Appearance In The Tribute Does Not Confirm Any Casting

Margaret Qualley’s appearance in the James Bond Oscars tribute immediately brings about questions about whether she’ll be part of the next iteration of the franchise. However, there are no credible reports that Qualley will be in the next iteration of the spy franchise, either as a “Bond girl” or even the next 007. This appears to be an opportunity for the franchise to use a rising star who was already set to be present at the 97th Academy Awards and incorporate her into the musical performance.

It’s also worth noting that the status of the next 007 movie is still unclear. Amazon MGM clearly desires to make more James Bond movies, but no casting is confirmed for any parts in what will be the 26th installment of the long-running franchise. The heavily rumored casting of Aaron Taylor-Johnson as James Bond is still merely a rumor, as no writer or director is even attached to the next installment. Until that happens, any chance Margaret Qualley has to be in the James Bond franchise will have to wait.

Margaret Qualley Would Make An Excellent Bond Girl For 007’s Reboot

She Could Help Further Modernize The Bond Girls

Margaret Qualley might not be cast in the next James Bond movie already, but after her appearance in this Oscars tribute, that should be something Amazon MGM seriously considered. The Bond girls are an iconic part of the franchise and have often provided breakout roles for rising stars. Qualley is already well-established in Hollywood, but she’s still an excellent option whenever it comes time to cast the 26th James Bond movie. She has the charisma, sensuality, and power to embody all aspects of a Bond girl.

It’s also a plus that so many people watching the Oscars saw Qualley in the tribute and immediately wanted her to be part of the franchise. Amazon MGM should take note of the positive response from fans about this idea, including the mention in Screen Rant’s Oscars liveblog, and work to make it a reality. Pairing her with any number of potential James Bond castings for the next iteration of the series would be an exciting way to kick off 007’s future. So even if she’s not part of the franchise right now, casting Margaret Qualley as the next Bond girl would be a genius move.
