Amy Rose Got The Coolest Introduction For Any Character In The Sonic The Hedgehog Franchise & It Actually Made Me Excited For Her Future

Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Sonic the Hedgehog 3!

Amy Rose’s epic first scene in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 blew all other character introductions out of the water, making me unbelievably excited to see her future in the movie franchise. As a fan of the Sonic video games, I have loved seeing them brought to life on the big screen. Each film feels better than the last, adding more emotion, action, and well-developed characters. Sonic 3 raised the stakes in a big way by featuring Shadow, my favorite character from the franchise.

Luckily, as Sonic the Hedgehog 3 reviews point out, the film is exciting from the moment it starts all the way to the end. I didn’t think I could feel more satisfied than I did when the credits rolled, but then the movie introduced Amy Rose in the mid-credits scene. Amy Rose’s first scene exceeded every other character introduction, setting expectations high for her Sonic The Hedgehog 4 role.

Sonic The Hedgehog 3’s Post-Credits Scene Gave Amy Rose A Better Introduction Than Tails, Knuckles, & Shadow

Amy Rose Gets To Show Off Her Fighting Abilities In Sonic The Hedgehog 3’s Post-Credits Scene

When it comes to characters’ first scenes in the Sonic movies, they’ve all been relatively uneventful. In the mid-credits scene for Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails jumps through a ring while holding a meter, looking to find Sonic. He then uses his tails to fly away. Essentially, the character is introduced in a teaser for the second film. They use the same approach for Shadow in Sonic 3, except it’s much more boring. He’s only on-screen for a moment, and all he does is open his eyes. I felt immensely disappointed that they introduced such a great villain in that way.

The introduction of Knuckles is more of a proper introduction since he enters Sonic 2 early on and serves as a character throughout. Unlike the other two, Knuckle’s introduction actually offers a thrill. The silhouette effect and the closeups of his knuckles and eyes have a dramatic effect. However, he still doesn’t have as good of an introduction as Amy Rose, since he just walks through a ring after all the action’s finished.

In contrast to these introductions, Amy Rose’s first appearance in the Sonic The Hedgehog 3 mid-credits scene is directly in the middle of an action scene. Sonic is in danger because the Metal Sonics are trying to kill him, and she throws her hammer to wipe them out. The moment she pulls off her hood feels like the cherry on top, especially because she smirks and raises an eyebrow.

Amy Rose Is A Divisive Sonic Character, But Sonic 3 Already Showed Her Potential For Greatness

Amy Rose Could Be A Great Addition To Team Sonic

Of all the major Sonic characters I’m excited to see in the movies, Amy Rose is likely the most divisive because of her personality and crush on Sonic. Most fans either love her or hate her, with very little middle ground. When she’s first introduced in the Sonic games, she’s bubbly, sᴀssy, and feminine. Her kindness and compᴀssion are defining characteristics, and she also has a big crush on Sonic.

She’s clearly a formidable fighter, which is one of the best aspects of modern versions of Amy Rose.

However, over time, the games’ writers have stripped down her personality, making her either overly obsessive about Sonic or a generic female character. They’ve bounced around between these points every game. This creates a challenge for the Sonic The Hedgehog movies. I hope that they bring back her girliness, find balance in her personality, and create the consistent character arc that they’ve struggled to find in the games. I’ve always really enjoyed Amy Rose, and I just want them to do her justice.

As for the fighting aspect, I am sold on Amy Rose in Sonic 4 after seeing her in action in the Sonic 3 mid-credits scene. She’s clearly a formidable fighter, which is one of the best aspects of modern versions of Amy Rose. She could be a great addition to the core group in the Sonic films.

Amy Rose Has A Bright Future After Sonic The Hedgehog 3

Amy Rose Will Likely Continue To Appear In Future Sonic Films

After her exciting introduction in Sonic the Hedgehog 3, fans have a lot to look forward to with Amy Rose. Luckily, she won’t go away any time soon. The character is guaranteed to return in Sonic 4, joining Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles. If her character is well-received, there’s always the possibility that she will get her own TV show like Knuckles.

Additionally, if the games are any indication, she’ll continue to appear in future Sonic movies. Even though Team Sonic was traditionally a trio, Amy Rose has essentially become the fourth member, turning the group into a quartet. She consistently shows up as a part of the core group in the games and marketing. At specific points in the franchise, she also leads Team Rose, which the filmmakers could always use to create a spinoff film. No matter what direction they go, Amy Rose will most definitely continue to appear onscreen after Sonic The Hedgehog 4, and I can’t wait to see it.
