There are some well-known elements that Final Destination Bloodlines has to include as part of the saga, but there’s a sneaky one that’s easy to miss but needs to be included, as it’s the smartest clue to Death’s design. As the trend of reboots and long-awaited sequels in the horror genre continues to be quite popular, one of the franchises joining it this year is Final Destination. Fourteen years after the surprise prequel Final Destination 5, the saga is returning with a sixth movie, тιтled Final Destination Bloodlines, directed by Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein.

Final Destination Bloodlines is changing the saga’s formula a little bit, following a college student who is being haunted by a recurring nightmare of her family’s demise. Because of this, she decides to return home to find the only person who can prevent such tragedies: her grandmother, who years ago had a catastrophic vision that allowed her to save many lives, but Death might be coming after them now. Final Destination Bloodlines has to check some boxes to feel like part of the saga, including one that many viewers might not have noticed before.

The Final Destination movies have clues to when a character is about to die as part of Death’s design and what their death is going to be like, though they always end up being surprisingly creative. These have become requirements in the Final Destination movies and are a big part of the movie’s appeal, as the audience catches these clues at the same time as the characters – however, there’s another big but subtle, yet very clever clue in every Final Destination movie that is easy to miss: the “song of Death.”

This song (or sometimes more than one) plays at different points in the Final Destination movies to announce Death’s arrival, and, in most cases, the song has some relation in its lyrics or backstory to the initial disaster of each movie. Final Destination has John Denver’s “Rocky Mountain High”, which plays before Tod, Ms. Lewton, and Carter’s death. John Denver died in a plane crash, and a plane accident is what triggers the events of Final Destination. The first sequel has AC/DC’s “Highway To Hell” as its song, very fitting with the initial pile-up at the beginning of the movie.

Final Destination 3 has “Turn Around, Look at Me”, which doesn’t have a connection to the initial premonition, but specific lines play at specific moments, such as when Wendy and Kevin are about to be killed by an incoming driver-less truck. The Final Destination doesn’t have a specific song playing throughout the movie, but Carter dies while “Why Can’t We Be Friends” plays and ShineDown’s “Devour” is also used. Last but not least, Final Destination 5 has “Dust in the Wind”, alluding to the bridge collapse, and it plays during and after Sam’s premonition and when he boards the plane at the end.

With all that in mind, Final Destination Bloodlines must have at least one “song of Death” too, and it might have already been revealed. The first teaser trailer for Final Destination Bloodlines takes place at a piercing and tattoo shop, where Erik (Richard Harmon) is getting ready to close the store. At the beginning of the trailer, he mentions that his father just died, and now he’s being forced to stay until late to close. Before he does, he plays Air Supply’s “Without You” as he gets “DAD” tattooed on his arm.

After that, Death’s plan is set into motion, and a series of strange incidents lead to Erik being burned alive. Given that family plays a big role in Final Destination Bloodlines, “Without You” could be a fitting “song of Death” – and if not, at least it will be Erik’s death song. If it’s not this song, Final Destination Bloodline’s “song of Death” might not be revealed before the movie’s release, so it’s another reason to pay extra attention to all the details in the movie.
