Chris Pratt Addresses Whether Star-Lord Will Appear In Avengers: Doomsday

Star-Lord’s chances of appearing in Avengers: Doomsday have been addressed. Chris Pratt is one of the most popular Marvel Cinematic Universe stars, so it stands to reason that he would be in line for the role in Marvel’s upcoming Avengers films. After all, Star-Lord appeared in both Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, and Pratt is coming off The Electric State, which is directed by the Russo Brothers. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 ended with a message that said, “The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return,” so Pratt has addressed whether that could happen in Avengers: Doomsday‘s story.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Chris Pratt played coy about Star-Lord’s potential Avengers: Doomsday role.

Pratt did not directly say that he would be part of Avengers: Doomsday‘s cast, which includes stars like Robert Downey Jr. and Pedro Pascal, but the actor confirmed that the tease about Star-Lord’s MCU return will be paid off by Marvel. With Star-Lord now on Earth just as Sam Wilson sets out to restart the Avengers after the events of Captain America: Brave New World, Peter Quill would make for a good member of the MCU’s premiere team. Check out the full quote below:

“There was a promise that [The Legendary Star-Lord] would return… we will make good on that promise!”

What Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord Avengers: Doomsday Comments Mean

The Legendary Star-Lord Will Return

While Pratt did not say whether he would appear in Avengers: Doomsday, his confirmation that the promise of Star-Lord’s MCU return would be fulfilled is exciting. In the Multiverse Saga, multiple characters have debuted in post-credits scenes and more, with future storylines set up for them to really leave a mark on the franchise. Among those characters are Harry Styles’ Eros and Brett Goldstein’s Hercules. However, Marvel Studios has not paid off those teases yet, and in some characters’ cases, it feels like that might never happen.

Given the popularity of Pratt’s Star-Lord, it always seemed like his return was one of the promises that Marvel would have to keep. Now, the actor has confirmed that will be the case. Star-Lord could very well appear in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, with Pratt only remaining silent to try to keep it a surprise for as long as possible. Pratt’s comments show that Marvel still has a clear plan for the character, even though the rest of the Guardians of the Galaxy have not been confirmed to return to the franchise yet.

Our Take On Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord Avengers: Doomsday Comments

The MCU Needs More Peter Quill

Avengers Infinity War Star Lord and Iron Man

I simply don’t think there is any version of Avengers: Doomsday where the Russo Brothers leave Star-Lord out of the action. Peter Quill has shown that he is a great team member and leader. Now that he is out of the Guardians of the Galaxy and on Earth, of all places, he would be perfect for Sam Wilson’s new Avengers. Pratt’s confirmation that Star-Lord will indeed return to the MCU, as teased in the past, feels like him coming short of saying he will appear in Avengers: Doomsday. With production reportedly starting in April, we should learn the truth soon.
