Star Wars: Revenge Of The Sith Returning To Cinemas For 20th Anniversary Celebrations

Ahead of the 20th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith, one of the Star Wars fandom’s most beloved movies, the franchise has confirmed an exciting means of celebration for the final chapter in Anakin Skywalker’s story before becoming Darth Vader. As with most of the Star Wars prequel trilogy, Revenge of the Sith was unfortunately met with a lot of harsh criticism at the time of its release. Now, however, its legacy has vastly improved – and it’s going to have another chance to be properly celebrated again.

Star Wars has revealed that Revenge of the Sith will be re-released in theaters beginning on April 25, 2025. This announcement arrives with a stunning poster created by Matt Ferguson, the very same artist who designed the art for last year’s 25th anniversary celebration of Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace. According to StarWars.com, the movie will be available in a variety of formats, including 4DX for the very first time.

The duration of Revenge of the Sith‘s new run in theaters will only be a week long, and it will only be available in select theaters in both the United States and international territories – presumably the same ones who also played The Phantom Menace during last year’s anniversary. There is no information just yet on when tickets will be available for purchase.

What Revenge Of The Sith’s Re-Release Means For Star Wars

They’re Making An Extremely Smart Choice Here

The re-release of Revenge of the Sith is incredibly exciting for Star Wars, and it’s a very smart move. It’s not extremely surprising, either, given how successful the theatrical re-release of The Phantom Menace was in 2024. It’s clear that Star Wars fans have a proper appeтιтe for re-experiencing movies like the prequel trilogy in theaters again, and Star Wars is smart to tap into that desire and enhance the celebration with cinematic events like this.

Revenge Of The Sith’s Legacy Can Finally Be Properly Celebrated

Now That We’re Experiencing It Again With New Context

The legacy of Revenge of the Sith has only continued to grow and improve over time, aging like a fine wine, and the big screen is the perfect way to celebrate its 20th anniversary. Star Wars fans have been hoping for this re-release to happen for a long time, given that Revenge of the Sith is undoubtedly the most well-loved of the three prequel movies, and finally, it’s coming to fruition. Revenge of the Sith has become a fan-favorite, and that love will be evident during this re-release period.

It will also, however, be an even more emotional experience for fans. This is the first time, aside from the mᴀssive Skywalker saga theatrical marathon on May 4th last year, that Revenge of the Sith is receiving such a re-release after Star Wars stories such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars have completely recontextualized key moments from this movie. The Order 66 sequence will especially hit different this time around for fans. Either way, emotional or not, it looks like April 25 is truly where the fun begins for all fans of Revenge of the Sith.
