A new image has been revealed for the live-action Masters of the Universe film. Masters of the Universe originated as a line of Mattel toys in the 1980s that were later accompanied by minicomics. The IP has since been adapted into multiple forms, including the fairly recent Netflix series Masters of the Universe: Revelation and Masters of the Universe: Revolution. Additionally, a live-action version of the story is in development with Nicholas Galitzine in the role of He-Man. Alongside Galitzine, the film features a leading cast including Alison Brie, Morena Baccarin, Idris Elba, and Jared Leto.
Now, Amazon has revealed a first-look image at Masters of the Universe. The images featured a shirtless Galitzine as He-Man, with his head cut out of the frame. He is holding his Power Sword up to his chest, grasping the weapon firmly in his hands. His wrist and mid-chest are supported by armor. Check out the Masters of the Universe image below:
What This Means For Masters Of The Universe
There Are Stylistic Similarities With Other Versions Of The Story
This first-look image suggests that the Masters of the Universe live-action movie will stay fairly faithful to the character design of its animated counterparts. He-Man’s Power Sword has a fairly similarly designed base to previous renditions, and the weapon has a silver glint. Part of the classic He-Man chest armor is witnessed in this image, but it looks like how this equipment is attached to Galitzine may be altered, for at least one of his shoulders does not appear to have a strap.
These stylistic continuities are likely a good choice for Masters of the Universe, as it is hard to fully capture He-Man’s image in live-action. His character designs have typically been unattainably buff and chiseled, a feat that is difficult even for committed and well-toned actors. Galitzine is 6 feet tall and has been tasked to play physically fit men before, but even casting him requires some of the audience’s suspension of disbelief given He-Man’s exaggerated physique. By making the costumes similar, it will be easier for audiences to immediately read Galitzine as He-Man.

Galitzine’s Face Reveal May Be The Most Interesting Part
While it is interesting to see the Power Sword design and other familiar Masters of the Universe strokes, the image still fails to reveal a full look at He-Man. While set pH๏τos have glimpsed what Galitzine will look like on modern-day Earth as Prince Adam, his He-Man counterpart has yet to be revealed. As anticipation builds for the Masters of the Universe movie, the next look at He-Man will hopefully reveal the character in his full costume.
