This article addresses the topic of Sєxual harᴀssment.
It Ends With Us star Brandon Sklenar reveals that he is open to returning for a sequel, despite the movie’s ongoing legal drama. Based on Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel of the same name, the movie was released in August 2024 and became a box office hit, grossing more than $350 million. However, its success has been overshadowed by the ongoing lawsuit between It Ends With Us co-stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, who also directed. The controversy began when Lively filed a lawsuit accusing Baldoni of alleged Sєxual harᴀssment and emotional distress, while he counter-sued, claiming defamation.
Now, in an interview with THR, Sklenar, who plays the character of Atlas Corrigan, opened up on the possibility of returning for a sequel. Hooever did write a follow-up novel that could be turned into a movie. Touching on the legal disputes between his co-stars, Sklenar revealed that he was open to reprising his role in a sequel, regardless of the drama, as the original movie was very personal to him. Check out Sklenar’s comments below:
Yeah, absolutely. I don’t know what’s happening with that, but I’m really proud of that movie and what it means and what it stands for. It was deeply personal to me. I’ve got someone very, very close to me who has been in that situation that Lily [Blake Lively‘s character] has been in for years, and I’ve been really on the frontlines helping her. So it means a lot to me and I’m just happy that it meant a lot to so many people as well. I would love to continue the story if it ever happens.
What These Comments Mean For An It Ends With Us Sequel
Sklenar Feels Strongly About The Project’s Themes
Sklenar’s comments show that he feels a special connection to the project and its source material, which explains his interest in returning to continue the story. The themes of domestic violence, emotional abuse, and toxic relationships are deep and relevant to many people. Sklenar likely feels that the message of the movie is something worth fighting for and preserving, despite the controversy surrounding it, and that by returning for a sequel, he can continue to raise awareness of these issues through art.
Any sequel would likely need at least some of the cast and crew who were involved in It Ends With Us, and it feels highly improbable that Lively and Baldoni will ever work together again.
Having joined the cast of 1923 in the role of Spencer Dutton, Sklenar’s star is on the rise, and his influence as an actor is growing. It makes sense that he would want to use his status to bring attention to important issues where possible, and this could be something fueling his desire to return to the role of Atlas. Whether or not a sequel will even happen is unclear at this point. If it does, there is no guarantee Sklenar will have a gap in his schedule, but the interest is certainly there, which will no doubt help matters.
Our Take On The Chances Of A Sequel To It Ends With Us
Hoover Wrote A Follow-Up Novel, But Its Adaptation Seems Unlikely
Hoover wrote a sequel novel тιтled It Starts With Us, which would likely be adapted for a follow-up movie, but the chances of the film happening seem low at this point. Any sequel would likely need at least some of the cast and crew who were involved in It Ends With Us, and it feels highly improbable that Lively and Baldoni will ever work together again. Baldoni produced the project through his Wayfarer Studios, and the company holds the rights to both novels, making it very difficult for a sequel to exist without his involvement.
