Robert Eggers’ Horror Movie With 84% On RT Is Now Streaming Just In Time For The Oscars, Where It’s Nominated For 4 Awards

Robert Eggers’ latest horror film, Nosferatu, has just hit streaming, and it’s the perfect time to catch up on it since it’s been nominated for four Oscars. Robert Eggers has become one of the most exciting filmmakers in Hollywood over the past decade, establishing a unique style of movies based on folklore. Robert Eggers’ movies have all been critically successful, bringing star actors into movies that mix entertaining horror with prestige filmmaking and impressive artistry. Nosferatu is arguably his best project yet, and that’s saying something.

Nosferatu was released on Christmas Day in 2025, managing to be a huge hit at the box office, raking in $177 million worldwide. This is in part due to the appeal for Nosferatu’s cast, which includes exciting young stars like Lily Rose-Depp, Bill Skarsgård, Nicholas Hoult, and Emma Corrin, but the appeal for a well-made horror film can’t go understated. Nosferatu boasts an 84% score on Rotten Tomatoes, a very solid score for a remake of a beloved classic movie, helping it become one of the highest-grossing horror movies of 2024, surpᴀssing the likes of Longlegs and Smile 2.

Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu Is Now Streaming On Peacock, Including The Extended Version

The Vampire Horror Film Is Available To Stream Today

As of Friday, February 21, Robert Eggers’ rendition of Nosferatu is available on the streaming service Peacock. The film was distributed by Universal Pictures, and their new releases always have their first streaming run on Peacock since it’s owned by NBCUniversal. Nosferatu joins the best movies available on Peacock, including other popular 2024 тιтles like The Wild Robot and Twisters. Given the award nominations, commercial success, and general popularity of the film, it’s an enormous win for the streaming service.

Nosferatu is a fantastic movie on its own, with astounding visuals, enjoyable performances, and high-stakes monster tension, but Peacock also offers the extended cut of the film. Nosferatu’s extended cut includes additional scenes, adding up to four total minutes of additional runtime. For those who loved the movie in theaters, the added content makes it all the more worthwhile to check it out on streaming, as both scenes include more of Bill Skarsgård’s Count Orlok, including a monologue.

Nosferatu’s Four Academy Award Nominations Explained

Nosferatu Is Nominated In Production Categories

Horror movies rarely get their fair dues at the Oscars, but the Academy is beginning to recognize Robert Eggers as one of Hollywood’s most exciting new talents. After The Lighthouse was only nominated once and The Northman was snubbed from all categories, Nosferatu has a total of four nominations. The categories include Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Best Makeup and Hairstyling, and Best Costume Design. It’s not in any of the major acting categories or for writing or direction, but these options might give it a better chance of winning something.

Movies Nominated For Best Cinematography

Cinematographer

1

Dune: Part Two

Greig Fraser

2

The Brutalist

Lol Crawley

3

Maria

Edward Lachmann

4

Emilia Pérez

Paul Guilhaume

5

Nosferatu

Jarin Blaschke

Nosferatu isn’t a clear-cut favorite to win any category, but Best Cinematography seems like the most likely option. Greig Fraser is the more famous name among the candidates, but Nosferatu could still go neck-and-neck with Dune: Part Two. Best Production Design and Best Costume Design will almost certainly go to Wicked, and Best Makeup and Hairstyling seems likely to go to The Substance. That leaves cinematography as the movie’s best hope, and it’s the aspect Robert Eggers’ movies are best known for.

Robert Eggers’ Nosferatu Is Still A Mᴀssive Success (Even If It Doesn’t Win Any Oscars)

Nosferatu Has Nothing Left To Prove

Even if Nosferatu falls short of any Oscar wins, having four nominations is a mᴀssive success on its own and will help with marketing the movie on streaming. Beyond just awards, though, it’s already a proven hit. The box-office achievement is impressive for such an artistic movie, bringing in nearly $200 million in a month where it was forced to compete with blockbusters like Mufasa: The Lion King, Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Babygirl, and more. The month had so many huge releases; it’s a wonder Robert Eggers’ movie managed to stand out so much.

Robert Eggers’ success with Nosferatu is a testament to his growing notoriety among film fans, and it’s already paid off for him. The director has already announced that he’ll be working on a new original movie called Werwulf, set in a period setting and focusing on folklore. Even without any Oscars, Nosferatu has nothing to prove, and it’s already pushed Robert Eggers forward as a prominent filmmaker. This is his biggest movie yet, and there’s only more to come, making it the perfect time to catch up.
