Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom invades the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a new Avengers: Doomsday concept trailer. The end of The Multiverse Saga is slowly approaching, as Phase 5 is almost over and Phase 6 is just around the corner, starting with The Fantastic Four: First Steps. With Downey Jr. coming back to the franchise – this time as Victor von Doom, a.k.a. Doctor Doom – there is a lot of anticipation for his return in Avengers: Doomsday.

As Avengers: Doomsday will reportedly be starting shooting this spring, the world is actively speculating how Doctor Doom’s debut in the MCU timeline will be handled. To show what a version of that may look like, KH Studio shared a new Avengers: Doomsday concept trailer, depicting Doctor Doom’s rise of power in the MCU while also pitting him against several heroes of Earth-616. The Avengers: Doomsday concept trailer also sets up the idea of Tom Hiddleston coming back as Loki, now serving as the God of Time. While several actors have been confirmed for Avengers: Doomsday, the full cast has yet to be revealed for the Phase 6 installment.

What Tom Hiddleston’s Loki Return In Avengers: Doomsday Concept Trailer Means For The MCU

The idea of having Hiddleston as part of the Avengers: Doomsday story is not too shocking, as many fans have been waiting to see him return to the MCU ever since the end of Loki season 2. As Loki made a complex sacrifice by becoming the God of Time, many would consider his story to have come full circle, thus why Loki season 3 hasn’t happened. However, having Loki come back and deal with Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom would be a worthy way to feature him in Avengers: Doomsday without decreasing the impact of the Loki season 2 finale.

Seeing Hiddleston’s Loki be featured through Avengers: Doomsday fan-art and concept trailers helps sell the point that the MCU audience is far from done with him. Since the story of Avengers: Secret Wars is rumored to be setting up a soft reboot of the MCU, Avengers: Doomsday could be one of the last chances to have Hiddleston reprise the role, especially if Phase 7 serves as a way to reimagine the franchise. Whether or not Marvel Studios is planning to feature Hiddleston’s Loki in Phase 6 remains to be seen.
